The good news is that I was able to get the Comments working again by selecting one of the out-of-the-box Blogger templates. (old time 12SSers should recognize it as our original layout)
The bad news is that a lot of the cool stuff, like the Flooble and the Mastheads went away with the change.
I was having a hard time locating the portions of the template code specific to the custom Comments that were implemented awhile ago, and my attempts at doing micro-surgery with a dull butterknife were not very productive.
We'll limp along in this format and I'll try to add things back, piece by piece, to try to rebuild everything EXCEPT the custom Comment code.
More news as it develops.

HOLY SHIT! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, congratulations. You have updated the blog to the new blooger (sp? hee hee) template. It has the capacity to implement new and better features, such as labels, a cool new archive feature like you see to the right.
~BUT~
The new blogger templates are written in xml. The old template wasn't. It was HTML with CSS spooge in it.
She must be rebuilt pretty much from scratch.
Anybody want a slightly used blog? The price just went down!
Oh, yeah. I don't know XML too well. It dif fur unt.
ReplyDeleteBloof, we can't revert back to the old format?
