Well i am sure glad that this is all over...holmy signed for 2 more years ...and we have no real big name free agaents next year! wow what are we gonna talk about?
here's the link..
So basically we have two years more to get back to the big game, before the uncertainty begins. Hopefully Holmgren hasn't been here so long now that players start to tune him out, that happens if a coach overstays. I think two more years should be just about right, to get the Hawks a SUperbowl victory.
ReplyDeleteDam it u beat me to it ghost. I heard it earlier but had no lonk so i didn't post. Soon as i got the link came here and Ghost already has it up.
ReplyDeleteI am really estatic abou having holmy back for two more years after this one. The guy reall can coach. One of the things that i saw from him last year and i think it made a whole lot of change was the fact that he ran the ball more. Any ways this is great. Holmgren is one of the best coaches in the league and if he doesn't get into Canton the writers are all real haters especially after they are talking about how Cowher is gonna get in.
I honestly believe this when i say it; Mike Holmgren can take any offense and turn them into a top ten in the league unit. He can take any chump QB and turn them into a star.
I hope to send Holmgren out of here with 3 more rings and afterwards we can rename Occidental Avenue Holmgren Avenue.
Dammit, I was just coming here to post this.
ReplyDeleteI just tried to light my piece with a pencil.
ReplyDeleteI think fox sports needs to update their Seahawks team page....they still have this running...
ReplyDeleteAll signs point to a contract extension for Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren, who has guided the team to an NFC-leading 32-16 record over the last three seasons.
Nice to see they are on top of all the sporting news!
The only worries I have are the rumors that Holmgren will have an "out" if a team offers him a GM position. If the Hawks make the big game again this year, I could see a team like SF offering him a GM position. I don't think he's a very good GM, but many teams aren't bright enough to realize that.
ReplyDeleteSo what could be better than sending a bad GM to a division rival, even if he is a hellava coach??!!
ReplyDeleteBTW, where's the link in the original post?
Don't you think if Holmgren went to SF he's start looting the Hawks' roster?
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't think anyone is going to offer him a GM job. His mediocre-at-best performance in that job is widely known.
ReplyDeleteCitK - I think that's why Ruskell just called in "backup" like they do on all those cop shows!
ReplyDeleteBloof - let's not forget this is the NFL we're talking about, and the 49ers specifically. Any league that continues to harbor Matt Millen and Marv "older than Jessica Tandy" Levy as a GMs has to have more than a couple of teams willing to give Holms another shot at GM.
Another problem with the SF scenario, John York is one of the cheapest owners in the league, Holmgren is the highest paid coach in the league, IIRC, so the numbers will not add up.
ReplyDeleteIIRC?
ReplyDeleteIIRC: If I recall/remember correctly.
ReplyDeleteHolmy is not going anywhere. His family likes it here and he has some health concerns where I doubt he wants the extra stress of starting over. Plus he just built one bad ass football team and now he gets to reap the rewards.
ReplyDeleteActaully the contract does not have an out claus...it was kept to 2 years so he go some where else after he finish's his contract in Seattle.
ReplyDelete"go some where else after he finish's his contract in Seattle" = retires?
ReplyDeleteWhen asked if he would still coach after his contract was up, he didn't dismiss it. But I would think it were a possibility!
