While it may seem like 100 years since we last saw our Seahawks in action, the reality is it's been just 3 short months since the biggest broad-daylight mugging in Detroit history!
Today marks the first official on-field action toward turning that page and setting the focus on Southern Florida next February, as the Seahawks open their first mini-camp with rookies and veterans today.
That link will take you to an article on Seahawks.com, which is illustrated with images of Jeheme Urban catching a pass, Lofa Tatupu reading the eyes of backup QB David Green, with Chris Spencer and an unidentified Guard holding off Tubbs at the line.
Not only is it great to see the boys mixing it up in helmets and shorts again, but these pictures also point to the future of the organization, and the wealth of eager young talent on the roster.
Which may lead you wonder about my choice of image to illustrate this new post at the street.
Well, this is mini-camp and the Seahawks will be fiddling with the roster, especially at the WR, DB and offensive line positions. And while the guys aren't even in pads yet, you know they'll be in tents, which may lead to some unexpected violins!
So be glad that the 2006 season is now officially underway. Not only will it help resolve the bitter memories of the way the 2005 season ended, but hopefully it will give us more to focus on than creating sapping pun-infested paragraphs like the one above!

Yes finally some action even though it doesn't mean much. The only thing that i remember from last years teaining camp is the coaches saying Lofa was a great instinctive player. They were sayin that where ever the ball was going he knew ahead of time and boy were they ever toght.
ReplyDeleteHaving our Hawks in the Superbowl almost gives us year round football. I'm jazzed that mini camp has begun. Good lead in story Alba. Hey look at all those contributors on the right side. Need to challenge them for more articles.
ReplyDeletegood to see some chatter on the Street again.
ReplyDeleteWhat? No comments on the cheezy puns??!!
Did someone say Cheezy?
ReplyDeleteSad day for East siders, it has been announced that training camp will be moved from Cheney to Renton. I for one am saddened by this move. The Seahawks have often been called "Washington's Team", encompassing the entire state. This move will alienate a few fans, and perhaps lose future fans, as other teams will now be as easily accessable as the Hawks are.
ReplyDeletehey where will it be held in Renton. Well since i live in Seattle Renton is just around the corner so i might go watch every practice during training camp. Do you know the exacty location in Renton Paulie. True it will suck for folks on the other side of the cascades, i think cheney was too hot for them.

ReplyDeleteyeah it will alienate a few fans but the next city with a pro football team is in the bay area so i think we r pretty afe. portland isn't even dreaming of getting another team so the Pacific Northwest still belongs to us.
The guy 2nd from the right deserves some koolaid!
ReplyDeleteIs it too much to ask to wear socks anymore? Nobody wants to see that crap...it annoys the hell outta me...
Then they wonder why they get bit by a scorpion...
btw, I like the whole move thing...good to see Paul Allen investing when he really doesn't have to...
Re #2 -- I'll pick up with the postings when the season gets closer. Living in New York I don't get too much 'Hawks news, but you can count on me to substitute humor for analysis.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a lakeshore facility in Renton, one that hasn't been built yet. Not exactly sure where, but there's only so much lakefront in Renton thats not Boeing, so that should narrow it down considerably.
ReplyDeleteI also read that Renton is hoping to get the Sonics to play there, too. Sounds like Renton is trying to be the Anaheim of the Seattle area.
Holding training camp in Renton is a bad idea, IMO. It's gotta be better for building team-ship to have to endure a place like Cheney for a month. If a team can survive that, it can survive nearly anything, even a superbowl made into a farce by poor officiating! Not that I'm still talking about that....
Concur, HWM. You make your team tougher by training in hotter weather, under less comfortable conditions. It improves team chemistry and future performance.
ReplyDeleteThis comes from a man who has trained with Marines in both 29 Palms (the Mojave Desert) and Camp Pendleton (on the beach bordering Orange County). Guess which ones were tougher?
Wow, that's tough. I'm gonna have to say it was the girls.
