Roster Moves Made Along With UPDATE

Sando's stuff:

This just in from the Seahawks ...

Injured reserve: S Mike Green, DE Kemp Rasmussen and FB Leonard Weaver.

Acquired: FB Josh Parry, from Eagles, for undisclosed 2008 draft choice.

Waived: RB Jimmy Dixon, G William Henry, CB Kevin Hobbs, WR C.J. Jones, FB David Kirtman, QB Travis Lulay, LB Lance Laury, G Jason Murphy, WR Ben Obomanu, DE Robert Pollard, S Etric Pruitt, CB Gerard Ross, C Pat Ross, TE Leonard Stephens, WR Justin Surrence, DE John Syptak, RB Marquis Weeks, LB Cornelius Wortham.Veteran contracts terminated: TE Matt Murphy, WR Peter Warrick.

PRACTICE SQUAD ANNOUNCED:

FB David Kirtman, LB Lance Laury, WR Ben Obomanu, DE Robert Pollard, CB Gerard Ross, C Pat Ross, TE Leonard Stephens, RB Marquis Weeks.

My stuff:

Looks like Weeks wont make it, unless he is PS again, but with Kirtman cut, too...looks like hes getting the PS spot. Weaver also done for the year.

I just hope to dear God in heaven that Weeks gets rewarded...he could be a stud one day. Tough, can run, can catch, and can play safety. (yes im serious)

Pruitt was beaten by Celestin which scares me, as Celestin is prolly the worst player on our main roster right now.

Maurice Mann MADE THE TEAM...thats pretty cool, Mann...im pretty sure in addition to having the best 4th string receiver in football (Hackett, who I feel could start for a majority of the teams out there), Mann...we might have the best 5th stringer in football, Mann!

On a side note, it feels good to be back on the Street!!!...im planning on having a season preview again, like I did with monkey last year and the year before...have no idea about monkey, either.

  1. I figured id leave the picture open for someone with a genius idea of a 'will work for...' type of thing. I found nothing.

Could the signing of Gabriel mean NE is preparing on life without Deion? Then again, I might be going out on a LIMB here...

  2. I'm with you adp on the Weeks thing. I really think that he can be or is better than Maurice Morris. Mann and Hass seemed to be able to click really well at times in pre season.

I don't know whats wrong with Warrick. The guy has a ton of talent, i don't know if the injury is still bothering him or not but he really needs to get it together because he can be a game changer.

  3. I used to draw tatoos on my arm that said "Will Work For Weed." Yeah.

Mann sure looked good in the preseason--I am glad he made the club. He showed a lot of Engram-like vision in finding the open spots between zones and coming back for the ball when the QB was in trouble. Good riddance to Warrick; not that he is a bad guy, but he had every opportunity to claim a roster spot but still failed to live up to his potential. I am likewise glad the Hawks didn't keep him hanging around, a la Koren, on potential alone.

Kirtman kind of surprises me. Who's the backup fullback with Weaver out? Kirtman didn't really show much in the preseason, but what if Strong goes down?

Agreed about Weeks. He looked really good.

And what's wrong with Oliver "The Prophecy" Celestin? Would you prefer Etric "Emetic" Pruitt?

  4. Never mind, answered my own question re backup fullback. Josh Parry.

Now they need to sign Mike Thrust for backup halfback. That would be a headline waiting to be written.

  5. lol...

as for Celestin over Pruitt...id rather have Pruitt. Hes got big game experience now, hard worker, improved, and has a chip on his shoulder. He really seemed to take the SB to heart, and looked a bit better. But honestly though, im surprised about this one because Celestin looked terrible in the preseason games he played.

  6. I wwas wondering the same thing about Mack's backup. Answer: Josh Parry.

  7. Aaag! I just saw you answered yourself, zenK!

I was thinking THE SAME THING about his name... If Mack gets hurt, Parry will be thrust into service. I hope he doesn't dodge the responsibility, because if he does that spin move someone's going to wind up in the lake.

  8. Pruitt was horrible in the SBXL. When he was forced into the game due to other injuries, I feared the game was over. Apparently Rusk-gren had seen enough, too. The strongest indictment against him was that he got cut AFTER Mike Smith goes down.

The team doesn't tolerate "potential" anymore. Put up or shut up. Same goes with P-Dub, Kirtman, Taco Wallace. (BTW-I'm as big a pooner as the next guy, but I can't believe they let him keep that nickname.)

I'm surprised Ashworth still has a job. At least Tom Ross can play center in case Spencer is called into action at another position and Tobeck isn't ready. Ashworth reminds me of that skinny old lineman from Wisconsin who hung around here for a couple of years, and is now fishing somewhere. (Jerry Wunsch). Ashworth has been the worst off-season move by a mile.

  9. Isn't that Mike Green? Anyhow, agreed about Pruitt in the SB; his "big game experience" consisted of getting beat, or otherwise being out of position, on several crucial passes, as I recall.

Oh, by the way, Taco is actually his given name. Interesting story: his very pregnant mother was two hours in to the 12-8 service shift in a Mexican restaurant when she went into labor. El Sombrero was shorthanded that afternoon, (Lupita had called in sick, again,) so she had to tough it out. Her son arrived during the dinner rush--luckily in the kitchen--but onto a just-out-of-the-oven #8 combo (three tacos,) hence the newborn's appropriate appellation.

The placenta plopped into the salsa bin an hour later. Unfortunately, it was Sunday, and the grocery store had closed early, so no replacement ingredients could be obtained... For the rest of the evening customers could be heard exclaiming in delight at the succulence and incredible rosy hue of the salsa, and pondering the identity of the "secret ingredient" Chef Marco "must have added." Ms. Wallace kept her mouth shut, bonded and breast-fed little Taco between tables, and reaped the rewards of the delicious salsa to the tune of $25 extra in tips over her average Sunday evening.

    And now you know...

    the rest of the story.

  11. About Weeks i'm afraid that even if we do put him on the practice squad again someone will steal him from us since other teams can dig into their practice squads.

  12. Okay practice squad was just announced today and her is the list:

It consists of fullback David Kirtman, linebacker Lance Laury, wide receiver Ben Obomanu, defensive end Robert Pollard, cornerback Gerard Ross, center Pat Ross, tight end Leonard Stephens and running back Marquis Weeks.

  13. been away all weekend without internet access, and limited access to TV and newspapers. (no, I didn't get arrested!) Just read about the cuts this morning. I too was surprised about Weeks and Kirtman. Did you see the number of former Seahawks also cut from other teams?

  14. P.S. nice one ADP...since nobody else commented on your Limb pun, I just had to.
