Slow Traffic - Detour Advised

Due to several factors, like the Google "upgrade" blasting this site back to kindergarten and the loss of some of our more prolific contributors, the traffic on 12 Seahawks Street has ground to a near halt.

The latest statistic report came back that we had a whopping ONE visitor in the previous seven days, which is a far cry from the couple hundred we used to get in our hay-day.

While it pains me to see this once vital blog struggling on life-support, the lack of activity may indicate that it's finally time to pull the plug.
However, they say that when one door closes, another one opens. And that other door just may be SeahawkBlue.com, where many of the familar names are now participating.

SeahawkBlue is an independent site, moderated and adminstrated by fans, and has much the same controversial commentary and unique blend of information and humor that visitors to 12 Seahawks Street came to know and love. If the slate of great contributors from The Street gets involved in The Blue, great features such as Tuesdays with Morons, Adopt-a-Seahawk and the Weekly Contributor Awards can continue.

Until and unless someone miraculously revives our dear friend, 12 Seahawks Street, we encourage visitors to click the Detour Sign below and join the conversation over at SeahawkBlue.com.

Hey, It's Super Bowl Sunday!

OK. So the Seattle Seahawks aren't in this year's contest, but it still is the the closest thing to an unofficial National Holiday as you'll get, so as an American, you have to be somewhat excited.

What are your plans for watching the game? Are you staying home or going to a party? Who are you rooting for and why? What do you think the final score will be?

A lot of questions will be answered by the final whistle, such as who will be the first African-American head coach to be a Super Bowl winner, and has an additional 12 months of helped the NFL Officials determine the difference between tickey-tack fouls and actual championship game penalties.

Enjoy the game!

Street Cleaning?

As Paulie astutely pointed out, it looks like it's 'throwback day' on the blog.

Unfortunately, due to the upgrade from Blogger to Google, we have lost a lot of our cool functionality on this site, and our old Blogmaster Bluefoot does not have the time or the tools to re-engineer it in the new XML format.

Adding insult to injury, some regulars, such as CitizenK, are not interested in converting to a Google account just to maintain their contributor status here, so we run the risk of losing some of our more spirited contributors.

Let's use this topic here to discuss which direction we should take the Street.

Good News, Bad News

Similar to the Seahawks returning to the Super Bowl, only to see Bill Leavy and his all star officiating crew at the coin flip, this is the proverbial good news/bad news topic.

The good news is that I was able to get the Comments working again by selecting one of the out-of-the-box Blogger templates. (old time 12SSers should recognize it as our original layout)

The bad news is that a lot of the cool stuff, like the Flooble and the Mastheads went away with the change.

I was having a hard time locating the portions of the template code specific to the custom Comments that were implemented awhile ago, and my attempts at doing micro-surgery with a dull butterknife were not very productive.

We'll limp along in this format and I'll try to add things back, piece by piece, to try to rebuild everything EXCEPT the custom Comment code.

More news as it develops.
