3 Down

The Seattle Seahawks released 3 players today. A day after the June 1st cuts the Seahawks released wide recievers Alex Bannister and Jerheme Urban and undrafted free agent defensive tackle Garret McIntyre.

Now collarbone has managed to break his collarbone the two past years, doing what, i don't know. He has missed much of both seasons but did make it as a pro bowl gunner in 2003. I don't think his production will be missed much since me and alba's boy Josh Scobey has filled in at gunner and even had more tackles then Bannister's pro bowl season. Alex Bannister will be most famously remembered as the guy who over ran his route in our playoff loss to the Packers, and thus "We want the ball and we're gonna score" was proven wrong even though Hass did throw a touchdown, even if it was to the wrong team. He did get a nice pay day right before the 2005 season so i don't know how his contract will effect the teams salary cap. Honestly i won't miss him Scobey has done an outstanfing job and the only thing i will miss about Bannister will be calling him Collarbone.

Urban was a undrafted free agent who did some pretty nice things for us. Unfortunatley he also had injury problems. He was key in this years Dallas victory but i will remeber him for getting out jumped by a tight end during a onside kick in a Dallas defeat two years ago on Monday Night Football. I guess white man really can't jump. Last year we released him after he got injured then re-signed after i guess Mack Strong intervention now why did we re-sign him and pay him a salary if we're gonna cut him now.

McIntyre, never heard of him we're stacked at d tackle so have a nice time getting a job. Sorry i can;t comment on ya buddy.

The Wide recievers look going into training camp and pre season is this:

Jackson
Burleson
Engram
Warrick
Hacket
Obomanu
Fulton

This should be pretty intense and i am looking forward to seeing it during pre season.

I'm sorry if the pictur causes you pain, but this season should have erased all of that.

  1. I for one will be sad to see Urban go, he had a ton of heart, but I think he will catch on somewhere.

  2. I was hoping that Urban could be the big target that JJ was last year but i guess he won't be for us. i think both Bannister and Urban will catch on some where else.

  3. Sorry to see Urban go. He was a great underdog to pull for. Hopefully he'll catch on somewhere.

Bannister who? I don't remember the last time he played. It's pretty easy to be a ST standout when the ST sucks sweaty balls. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't catch on with another team.

  4. Sucks for Urban, but im not disappointed. Hackett IMO is better...and as long as he sticks, im happy. (assuming Burleson, DJack, and Engram dont get cut...:P) Urban will catch on somewhere, and I would think Dallas, and especially NE would be perfect landing spots for him. (Dallas for hometown...and NE as my pick for his next destination). Who knows...maybe he'll be back...but he prolly hates us by now for releasing him a hundred times.

Bannister...umm about time...we have plenty of ST gunners now, that I dont miss him. Our coverage wasnt pourous last year, and that was without him. We'll manage...remember, Brown isn't great on kickoffs...so thats where the field position starts. We just need some good returns. Bannister was pretty much useless at this stage in our evolution as the best team in the NFL in 05-06, and prolly in 06-07.

  5. I was a huge Urban fan, and still will be. However, I can just see him signing with a NFC West foe--probably St. Louis--and become an annual pain in the side for the Hawks' nickel backs, a la Kevin Curtis and all the other slot guys on that club over the years. On the other hand, I'm happy to see the depth at WR so hearty that the club can release two guys at that position and STILL expect to have a surplus. Very nice!

I still think the team's a wee bit short at LB and safety, but other than that every position is stacked. August can't come soon enough!

  6. I agree with PaulieP, Urban has heart and was a good fit in his role, but Bannister, I'm gald to see him go! Very overated and brittle.

I will always remember the infamous interception that ended our season in the wild card game in Green Bay. He ran a 7 yard route on a play that required a 5 yard route and we all saw the results.

The only good that came from that play was Matt's growth because he showed class by not throwing Bannister under the bus.

  7. Not to be a pain, but Urban was brought back due to the Engram and Jackson injuries, and not due to a Mack Strong intervention. Strong stepped up for Urban after he got hurt and the Seahawks released him AGAIN without paying the balance of his contract.

Mack got the Seahawks to bring him back and get him on the IR, even though they weren't obligated to. This not only paid Jerheme the balance of his salary, but allowed him to rehab at the team facilities, which probably preserved whatever shot he has of continuing his NFL career.

We're pretty flush at receiver and these two guys have had recurring injuries. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Jeb Huckaba gets cut loose soon too, since he's coming off two broken feet.

I'd like to see Urban catch on outside the NFC W.

Could care less what happens to Collarbone.

  8. "Last year we released him after he got injured then re-signed after i guess Mack Strong intervention"

I know we brought him back due to the injuries of D-Jack and Engram but i think i said we re-signed him after he got injured due to Mack Strong intervention.

I think thats clear but i am known to be some what illiterate. Come on alba ur down in ur game buddy, not to be a pain or anything.

  9. Liked Urban, right move though.

Him and Bannister will both get picked up.

On WR list, failed to include Seneca, since he will likely see more time there this year. They need to add the wrinkle since they already ironed out the offense.
