In my opinion, like most others, Hutch is our NUMBER ONE priority signing.
We have arguably the best O-Line in the league, and it's the straw that stirs the drink. They makes Hass better and they make Shaun expendable.
Sure Locklear has stepped in and maybe Pork Chop could replace Hutch, but it would be a distinct drop off in talent. Besides, we need Pork to step in for Gray, who should either retire or take a back up role.
My feeling is that Hutch will be a Seahawk in 2006, with a nice fatty long term deal, or with the franchise tag.
He ain't goin nowhere!
ReplyDeleteAs you said alba, he is clearly the most important free agent to sign.
Now for ADP's shortest post ever!!!...
ReplyDelete...yes. : )
I have heard that from everyone, that Hutch is the #1 guy for us to resign this offseason...I totally agree!

Good point Opaco, I guess I haven't heard ANYONE say that we should let Hutch walk.

Hutch is stayin the only question is will he get a long term deal or the franchise tag.

I don't think they franchise him cuz it would have to be for Tackle money.

I think that the only way they franchise him is if they just cannot reach a deal before deadline. The Seahawks obviously want to sign this guy to a long term deal, that is cap friendly. But if they can't do it before the deadline you KNOW they will franchise him before letting him walk! There's no WAY the Hawks let him go!
ReplyDeleteit would be interesting to see if Hutch wants security or money...
ReplyDelete...because he has the leverage of being the best guard in football, and the overlooked part of knowing he would be franchised
if he doesn't mind another year of insecurity, he would be smart to let the team franchise him, so he gets almost double what he would, should they resign him long term

Hutch is one of the few guards in the league that might be worth tackle money.
ReplyDeleteOn a related note, it is ridiculous that all O-linemen count the same as far as the franchise tag is concerned. They separate D-Tackles from D-Ends but they put centers, guards and tackles all in the same boat. Just silly.

This may be a dumb question, but everyone here seems to agree that Hutch stays, and it sounds like most everyone agrees he won't get tagged, so to cross threads a bit, why wouldn't they use the Tag on Rocky?
ReplyDelete(asking those that thought Rocky would be tough to keep.)
Posted by Vin
Because Rocky is a third down pass rush specialist, not even a starter on this roster.
ReplyDeleteI don't see paying top 5 DLine money to a guy who has exactly one good season, one healthy season in his career, and is a backup.
All I know is our Defense sure seemed to go to hell after he was injured in the Super Bowl.
ReplyDeletePosted by Vin
Do you think they'll use the tag this season, I heard they may not even use it.
ReplyDeletemight not have to...
ReplyDeletecant use it on Alex, and if they resign Hutch with no problems, who can they use it in on thats worth it?
would Mack Strong be a viale possibility?
do FBs get paid RB money through the tag, or are they seperate (like every position should be...)

Vin - our defense went to hell in the SB after Dyson, Manuel AND Rocky went down, and I think it was the first two injuries that had the biggest impact.
ReplyDeleteADP - if they don't distinguish guards from tackles, thenI'm guessing they don't distinguish FBs from RBs. It would be cool though if we could "franchise" Mack in his final season, as long as it wouldn't lead to overpaying him.

I really want an answer on this one. IS IT JUST ME OR DOES DYSON GET BANGED UP IN EVERY SINGLE GAME HE PLAYS IN.
ReplyDeletePosted by meezy
yeah, his cover skills aren't really a question but his durability sure seems to be.
