Will JJ Stay?

It could be argued that Joe Jurevicius was the MVP of the Seahawks in 2005, with the way he stepped up while DJack and Bobby lost significant time to injury.

That being said, with his age, injury history, and prospect of being a backup, he's not a guy you break the bank over.

However, with his wife having family in the area, and with all the comments he made over the year about this being a great lockerroom and good team environment, I think JJ remains a Seahawk in 2006.

  1. Of all the free agents, this guy is the one who I would be most disapointed, if he didn't return.
Everything about JJ I like, in my mind, he is a MUST SIGN.

  2. I realize JJ's popularity rose immensely this season...but I will be the bad guy here...

He is a good player, receiver, person...and most importantly.......

    .......a luxury.

If we lose him, so be it for me, though I feel he is a luxury we can afford, and should be able to resign...dont get me wrong, i want him back, but I dont see him on the same level as Hutch in terms of priorities (or even Shaun and Strong for that matter)

NE wants him, but he prefers West Coast, enjoys our team and city, so i highly doubt he will leave.

  4. I love JJ. I think he is one of the hardest working receivers on the field. He reminds me so much of Ed McCaffery from Denver.
I think it would be a shame if we let him go when there was something we could do to keep him.

  5. Oh, I don't think the FO will let him walk without tendering him something to keep him. The problem is that if he's looking for a starting role or a big payday, then he'll be playing for someone else next season.

However, if he wants to continue his role of filling in as needed on a quality team with a lot of heart and character, then I think he signs whatever offer the FO makes prior to March 3.

  6. sign JJ. We shouldn't overpay him or anything but he is good insurance. JJ has never been a starter and won't be at this state in his career so know one will be giving him starter money. Lock him up with a short term incentive filled contract.

Love the guy he's a hard worker is always there when you need him and most of all he is a team player.

  7. I'll say this, technically speaking, JJ is probably the most easily replaced free agent we have this year, as far as position and price. I know that in a strict sense, he is something of a luxury.
But IMHO the intangibles he brings ot this team, make him far more valuable than your typical #3 reciever. He brings an attitude, and a work ethic, that is nearly irreplaceable. I just think he brings enough to this team, that for the money he will likely want, he is MORE than worth it, even if the position he fills, isn't a vital one.

  8. One thing I'll add--stating up front that I'd love to have him back--is that Seattle is probably the best situation for JJ.

I think he's at that point in his career where he gets it. (Ditto for Peter Warrick.) When you combine opportunity to win with great coaching, great atmosphere, great city--I enjoy my trip there every year even though I really don't do anything. I love walking around talking to the people--he's not going to substantially improve his situation anywhere else. When it's all said and done I think JJ will be the one to say to his agent, "make this happen."

  9. From the Pro Football Weekly....

'Make no mistake Seahawks free agent-to-be Joe Jurevicious would just as soon stay put. "I love Seattle," the wide reciever told PFW at the Super Bowl. "I'll do anything I have to to win. I don't care if I'm catching 10 a game or none. This is a good close group of guys."

Sounds to me like he wants to get this done....and he's already a Ruskell guy. I seriously don't see him going anywhere.

  10. My uncle saw him at the Super Bowl post game party and he asked him what the Seahawks had to do to keep him and Jurevicus said "They need to show me the money"...i thought it was worth mentioning

  11. Miz - A) how many beers did JJ have in him at that point?

    B) was it said with a chuckle, wink and a nod?

    C) why the hell didn't your uncle get YOU into that post SB party?

  12. I wasnt in Detroit (Im living in Atlanta right now)so I couldn't go...and I asked my uncle the same thing about him smiling or anything (it was early in the night so he couldn't have been too drunk) and he said that he looked serious so take it for what its worth

  13. I'm not sure what we're paying JJ, but he definitely earned himself a bit of a raise this season. Although I don't see a blockbuster free agent contract in his future.

  14. From today's Seattle Times :

Joe Jurevicius would like to remain a Seahawk, and the team has expressed its desire to retain him, his agent said. If he is not re-signed by Friday, the free-agent market should be good for Jurevicius, who caught 55 passes for 694 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.
