Given the subject of this topic, I thought it was only appropriate to go with an old school retro-photo. Yes, I think if Mack doesn't retire before the season, he will retire as a Seahawk. What would be awesome is if we could get Hutch signed before the start of free agency, and then use the Franchise tag on Mack, as a symbolic gesture to underscore what he's meant to this team.
(OK, probably not a good idea to pay him upwards of $7M in franchise money, but in the fantasy world in which I operate, it would be a good gesture!)
lol franchise Mack?
ReplyDeletethe Mack Daddy will continue slapping his ho's...
...that means you, Zona, Louise, and Francesca!
Pay Mack well. But I don't think a franchise tag is in order.

Mack will definatley be Back. The guy bleeds Seahawk blue. How can he leave. If he retires thanks for 13 great seasons if not come back and lets start rollin in 2006. No way Mack signs else where.

Now this is one where I think I may have to disagree. Mack has been nothing short of brilliant at his job but I think he calls it a career this offseason. The pounding a body takes at his position... I shudder to think about it.
ReplyDeleteIf he stays I suspect it'll come under the following conditions:
* the seahawks re-sign both Hutch and Alexander
* the seahawks, for the most part, stay out of the FA market
* his teammates talk him into signing a one-year deal

I think Mack will want to come back for one more year. He's taken a beating over 13 years, but he sees the chance to win a Superbowl too. If they sign Hutch and Alexander, the only way Mack won't be on the field for one more shot at a superbowl would be an injury (knock on wood!).

I agree with the fact a return to the SuperBowl is a strong temptation for him to stay, but I seriously doubt that he cares who's running behind him(hasn't mattered up until now), Hutch on the other hand is a huge factor I agree.

Hey, where's the Super Bowl next year? Maybe it'll be in Mack's hometown, and he can get Bettis-like overexposure.

SB XLI is in Miami. Mack's from Georgia.
