Alan's Gambling Guide: Week 2

So, the Seahawks failed last weekend, in epic fashion. And while I was down about that, I did notice that I went 9-7 against the spread last week. Not to shabby, considering the following...

1. I was giving that Seahawks homer pick no matter what.
2. Matt Ryan's MOM didn't think he was going to go off like that...so sorry I missed that Falcons-Lions game.
3. So called defensive genius Marvin Lewis can't blitz a first year QB who can run surprisingly fast.
4. Tom Brady's knee went RIIIIIIIIIIP.

So, let's see if we can build on this in week 2. Lines are from the Las Vegas Hilton from covers.com. Home team in CAPS.

SEATTLE (-7) over San Francisco

If this line had stayed at Seattle (-9.5) I might have picked the Niners. But, winning by a touchdown, at home? I think Seattle can do it. That defense is licking its chops to get back at it and, even if its thanks to 5 Mare field goals, the Seahawks will win this game by more than seven points.

KANSAS CITY (-3) over Oakland

The Raiders looked laughably bad. This is nothing new, but still. They looked laughably bad.

Green Bay (+3) over DETROIT

Psstt...That Rogers kid ain't bad. The Lions defense looked really, really bad against the Falcons. This line? Too close.

Tennessee (+1.5) over CINCINNATI

I kind of feel bad for Vince Young, I really do. But, he's not playing, giving me a reason to pick the Titans.

Chicago (+3.5) over CAROLINA

Fast moving line here. Started at Carolina (-6.5). The Bears are still healthy on D, and will be looking to prove that their opening win was no fluke.

JACKSONVILLE (-6) over Buffalo

But only if Jacksonville can punt the ball more than 22 goddamn yards.

New Orleans (+1) over WASHINGTON

Was that...no...was it...Reggie Bush...producing? Oh dear God, its like he's all rested up after taking a year off!

MINNESOTA (+1) over Indianapolis

The Colts offense looked just a tad out of sync. And by a tad, I mean, Peyton Manning's rookie year.

NY Giants (-8.5) over SAINT LOUIS

This line is really to close. Fun fact: I own Plaxico Burress on one of my fantasy teams. Bonus fun fact: I am going to win by 90.

TAMPA BAY (-7) over Atlanta

I'm perplexed by this line, but then I thought that Atlanta might be this year's weird team that looks great one week and then collapses the next. Tampa Bay is better and that'll show in the 4th.

ARIZONA (-6.5) over Miami

If the Cardinals are to take the leap into the playoffs, they need to win the games they're supposed to. They did that a week ago. Now, they have to do it again for anyone to take them seriously.

New England (+2.5) over NY JETS

I don't blame people for picking the Jets, but lets be honest. Its the Patriots, with a chance to spoil Brett Favre's New York regular season debut. If that isn't a recipe for a 20-point beat down of a humbling, I don't know what is.

HOUSTON (-4) over Baltimore

Mario Williams will fix that pass rush problem, methinks. Note: this game moved to Monday due to Hurricane Ike.

DENVER (+1.5) over San Diego

Until LT gets it going, without a major cog in their defense...I will be skeptical of the Chargers.

Pittsburgh (-6) over CLEVELAND

Do I need to comment on this one?

Philadelphia (+6.5) over DALLAS

This game will be closer than betters apparently think. Both teams beat up on inferior competition in week 1, but their week 2 showdown should be fun.

Enjoy the games and happy betting!

Alan
