Hawks land another former NFC West foe

Len Pasquarelli of ESPN.com is reporting that the Seahawks have signed yet another defensive tackle, Russell Davis, formerly of the Cards. Financial terms of the deal have not yet been posted.

Russell is 30, missed most of last year with a bicep injury, apparently is a team guy who will fit in well on the Seahawks.

Here's hoping another addition to the defensive line will be announced in the near future (Abraham.)

Looks to me as though the Hawks are planning to upgrade the defensive line through free agency and the secondary possibly through the draft. I wouldn't mind seeing Peterson join the club, but I've never been convinced that he's worth big money. We'll see what happens!

  1. Man CitK i just posted the same topic but deleted it after seeing yours i also wrote Ha alba beat u to it on the bottom too.

Anyways i like this signing this guy is pretty big might be a starter and if not we probably have the best d tackle rotation in the league. If we get Abraham we have the best d-line rotation bar none in the league and we will lead the league in sacks in many years to come. God i hope we can get Abraham him and Wistrom opposite of each other i get goosebumps all over. If the money was right I say Davis is a good sign.

This is payback for last year Zona i hope Davis talks smack about the Cards in his news confrense. I guess Russle Davis figured out that Seattle is where champions are made and Arizona is where you go to retire.

If we get Peterson and Abraham i could care less about loosing Hutch (well sort of).

I also agree about the free agency draft thing. If we lose Hutch i say we get Jean-Gilles of Georgia or Deuce Lutui from USC in the second considering we don't have a 1st round pick and then we get a few DB's later on.

  2. clearly depth signing...and a great one at that...funny, nearly a year ago everyone was a little surprised with Woodard and Moore being cut...yet now we have more depth at DT than ever...

our DLine rotation would be amazing if we got Abraham...people go nuts over a team with one great, and a solid DE...but rarely do those teams have depth behind the starters...rotations are often overlooked...and Seattle is handling those situations very well

    great signing...

oh, and btw...im hearing the Jets are almost LITERALLY begging Abraham to get a deal done with us...i think its kinda crappy, and i take it somewhat personal that so many big names dont wanna sign here...i mean, we're built for the SB for at least the next 4-5 years...Atlanta is a fringe playoff team at best...granted he wants to be near his family...but you're still gonna be gone alot...and you only have so much time to win a championship...if you don't want to win...than why are you playing football?...seriously, Abraham needs to open his eyes...and not just him either...its all the other big names who sign elsewhere

if he wants to get out of New York so bad...he should take his chance---and win a championship on top of a big pay day...and relief...i havent seen a person yet who signed here and hated living in Seattle...his daughter would be fine here...and shes prolly young enough not to really care anyways

  3. atleast Keyshawn Johnson knows that we are superbowl team and he wants to play here. I would like to see him here but thats for a different topic. If Abraham comes here forget our offense people should start fearing the D even though we don't have a great 2 corner or Tracy White.

  5. I'm pretty mixed about trading for Abraham,if we were to sign him he would take Wistroms job.Wistrom really hasn't lived up to his huge contract. And we need speed off of that end.You may not agree but this league is about money, and Wistrom makes to much compare to his sack output. But I do like having Wistrom that is why I am mixed about the trade. I think Peterson would fit much better on the team.

  6. Me. Nuff: Why would he take Wistroms spot and not Fisher's. Fisher might have more sacks but Wistrom is the better all around player. If we don't sign Hutch we should have space to sign him and Peterson and still have somspace left over.

I don't have specifics on Wistroms contract but the reason it was huge was because of that 14 million dollar signing bonus not the base salary and since the signing bonus is guaranteed there is no reason to release him for cap space even if we get Abraham.

  7. Peterson's main problem is struggling in coverage...great LB overall, but his struggles in coverage are pretty noticeable...i dont know if hes worth what hes asking...everyone keeps asking around worried about if we could afford both Peterson and Abraham...if we cant afford both right now, then Peterson must be asking for a TON...

Abraham could just shift Wistrom over...Fisher has a bargain contract...and he could just rotate in...our team uses rotations a lot, so Fisher wouldn't exactly miss a beat...he'd still get ample playing time...

I want both...but I much rather have Abraham...not great against the run, but our DTs can make up for it...but his speed and PR are reasons alone, as of why he makes the Pro Bowl alot...hes worth the first rounder, too...i just wish he honestly wanted to come here...if he really is blocking us out of negotiating to buy time for the Jets/Falcons...then i dont want him here anyway...i dont want someone here if they dont want to be here

sadly, noone seems to want to be here...despite being a SB contender for the next 4-5 years at worse...

  8. But I really don't think Abraham will be a rotation guy, personally I don't think anyone can make him totally happy. And what do you mean about peterson in coverage, this last year he was coming off a a major injury, but before that he would line up at corner, safety you name he would line up there.peterson would be another 100+ tackle guy for us for sure.I would much rather go after a another
backup end in the draft the go after Abraham.

  10. Abraham wants to play for Atlanta b/c his entire family lives in South Carolina. I don't think we can hold that against him, really.

  11. lol KKKKKKarl Malone says...nice though!

had no idea that was you Shonuff...welcome back!

that said...Peterson may lineup wherever...but hes not very good in coverage...dont know how to explain it, he just isnt very good in coverage...he makes up for it in tackles and pass rushing...really it dont matter, as Lofa is a beast in coverage...and how many teams need 3 covering LBs? It would still be one of the best trios in the NFL : D

  12. Hmmm. I'm not sure I agree with you either, adp. I've seen Peterson make some great plays to the ball in coverage. In any case, I do agree he would be a great addition to the front seven.

  13. ADP, earlier you said that Person lacks in coverage skills...not to be mean but have you ever seen him play?
Julian Peterson is by far and away the best coverage linebacker in the NFL, not even a close second. The single greatest part of his game is his coverage skilles which are so amazing, that San Fran used him at safety before.

In fact Peterson, before he got hurt, was thought of as one of the premier coverage LBers, of all time in the NFL...not sure which LBer you're taling about, but it can't be Julian Peterson who plays for the Niners, because he is flat out unbelieveable in coverage. I personally have never watched a LB who is better, not ever.

  14. I'll say this too, Peterson is in my book, not only the single most underrated BLer in the league, but he may be the single most underrated player in the league, and that is mostly due to his unbeliveable ability to line up anywhere because of his coverage skills.

In San Fran, they have lined him up at DE or even at safety, You can literally put the guy anywhere, because of his coverage ability which is simply spectacular.

Seriously ADP, I really think you need to watch some film on the guy, his coverage skills are what made him an all pro. He is the best in the league by far at it.

  15. maybe im thinking Lavar Arrington? I dont think i am...but everyone seems to disagree with me so I must have something mixed up...usually I agree with you monkey...ill stand by my word until I figure it out...

Obviously, you dont need to ask if ive seen him play...the guy was in our division forever...

  16. Well after doing a bit of research...i have come to the conclusion---im crazy...

...i cant find any evidence as of whether im talking Arrington or Peterson...i know i remember saying one FA LB was terrible in coverage...and then remember a couple places saying it after i did...unfortunately, i havent found anything...

    ...i think im going crazy...
