Hello, I Must Be Going!

***** NOTE *****
As of 3/13/06 I have stopped updating this list. Check out
this link on NFL.com which lists team by team comings and goings in free agency.
****************

Losing sentimental favorites like Joe Jurevicius and Marquand Manuel on the same day, after only one hear of service to the Seahawks, may seem like some old Marx Brother's farce of a plot...but it's true.

Welcome to the other side of the salary cap and free agency coin.

  1. JJ may be gone, it sucks...but im pissed about Manuel

The Packers obviously WERE tampering...'oh we didnt have an agreement for him before FA'...soon as FA begins, 'Packers sign Manuel'

    FUCKING JERKOFFS

ok vent off...im nervous a bit, but oh well...Manuel's loss hurts more...not saying he was more important, but looking at the next season assuming everyone comes back healthy, that are on schedule to do so...Manuel is huge

they better pull another miracle...im curious moreso than skeptical right now

but if they keep on letting Hutch be dangled and such...i will get furious...

  2. draft adp draft. There are pretty good safeties in the draft that will be available at 31. If Hamlin is healthy they should be good back ups. Green Bay must love overpaying cause thats what they just did

  3. Well, I've been quiet as of late but I have to admit, I'm not so nervous at this time.

    1. I beleive that the Hammer will be back and therefore we should not overpay for a reasonable backup. This Hart guy from KC should be able to fill the backup role - remember our defense now is a role defense. If everyone plays their role, they will be tough again next year and there won't be the protracted time requirmeent there was last year from numbers of new players. One or two plug-ins should be able to adapt after a few games.

    2. WR I'm not so concerned about. I too like JJ but.... We do have DJack, Bobby and between Moss and Hackett we should be okay. I truly believe that the NFC Championship and Super Bowl was a preview to what we can expect in the future with Seneca. He is the best "Athlete" on the team and we can not have him sitting on the bench in a backup role. There are too many QB's available in the draft and in FA to not pick up a decent replacement for Hass. That would free up Wallace to play WR and won't cost us an arm and a leg for a high priced WR off FA.

    3. Hutch. We will have him back. Saving money on the moves above will allow us to match any offer another team can give Hutch without negotiating against ourselves. Let Hutch find out what his market value is and we will match it or give him a little extra to keep him happy and in Seattle. Our owner (PA) is one of the most capable owners to pay a bonus and now that it is amortized over 5 years, we can jump higher in the upfront money than most of the small market teams. Bottom line: Hutch will be back.

    4. So where are the holes. Locklear is a question but I'm not too worried about that at this time. I think his case will be settled or thrown out. We have a backup QB slot that needs filling. Looks like Mo will be back. That should set the Offense. We need a couple of good CB as backups to Herndon and Tru. We need a good OLB and a DT (if we don't resign Rocky).

    5. We need to let Rocky find out what his value is and IF I was in the FO, I'd work a deal to let Rocky find that out and tell him that I'd match whatever he got. The incentive is to play for a contender at the price he could command on the open market. If not, since we have a D-Line by committee anyway, we need a rold player to step in for Rocky.

    6. OLB - This depends on how the draft goes. We will try to pick up a good OLB in the draft and then look at who's still available on the FA market. (Personally, I'd like to see Arrington and Milloy come in and "compete" for the job with a draft pick). Remember TR likes to bring in a lot of people and then have them compete for the job while he watches their chemistry with the team. Prohl comes to mind from last year.

    7. We need to resign Josh to lock up the K position.

    8. Then we need to offer a number of players (young and old) minimum contracts to "compete" for their jobs just like last year.

Just my take on this whole thing.

    Comments???

    Cheers, Hawkman.

  4. Minny made a 7 year offer of 49 mill to Hutch...im sweating

and for safeties...its common knowledge that if you draft a secondary player, and make him start...95% of the time he will get picked on...effectively

  6. We should be able to match that if we fail to do so i will be mad as hell at Timmy so get Hutch locked up i don't think many others will offer as much as Minny so he should be ours for 7 years 49 million with a 16 million dollar signing bonus.

  7. way i see it...if they were willing to pay 5.8 mill a year...and even the TTag's price, which is over 6 mill...they might as well go a bit higher

they cannot afford to let the league's best G go...

I tell you one thing, something VERY ironic has happened:

I laughed when Cleveland took LeCharles away from Philly...and they come over here and take JJ away...

I laughed when Minny took Longwell from Green Bay...and they come over here and try to take Hutch away

    im not laughing anymore.

  8. I bet the Viqueens are thinking today, "what did we do? I hope the Seahawk's bail us out of this stupid move." We are deep at O-line and I would rather see that money go toward some very good impact players on Defense. Our offensive scheme will make O-linemen look good. There will be a drop off, don't get me wrong, however, he is not irreplaceable.

  9. Gotta agree with hawkman, Hutch is great but not irreplaceable. Either way is fine with me, Hutch or a top tier rook or a capable vet. How bout Minny's LG, Anthony Herrera, as a promise not to sign Hutch, plus a 5th rd'er or something. He's like Chop, T,G,C player. Regardless, they will still be in Walt's shadow and reap the benefit of him.
