NEW LABOR DEAL GETS DONE

ESPN Radio and NFL.com are announcing that the Owners have approved the final proposal submitted by the NFL Players Association.

This means that the salary cap number is now rougly $105M and that the free agency will officially begin as of 12:01am ET Thursday night. This also removes any fears of uncapped years, lockouts, strikes for the next 6 years.

Now, the only question remains, with $10M extra dollars to spend, how soon is the new contract Hutch going to be announced?

  1. Way to go Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder, well purchased. At least we can know our owner simply voted "Sure, I'm richer than any of you poverty stricken bastards will ever be" on his card.

Thats just cynicism btw... I am glad they got their labor peace. GO HAWKS. SIGN A PASS RUSHER!

  2. I'm happy bout the CBA but would of rather seen it be extended next year. I felt that we were in good cap shape and most of the other NFL contenders weren't. I guess what i am sayin is i would bebadly bruised but rather have u knocked out than have me be A OK and you bruised.

Oh well this is good for everyone. Lets go to Miami baby. Maybe re-sign Sharper and Dyson. Maybe.

When does free agency now begin?

  3. I really hope they throw some extra cash in Mack's direction. Not sure I want to see the Hawks without him yet.

  4. Meeze - by the orginal schedule, free agency is due to begin at 12:01am ET on Thursday, although the owners are trying to get it pushed back another 24 hours again.

  6. I'm not sure what to think of this extra cap room...

Remember, the other teams have more to spend now, too. It could very well turn into a bidding war, with some free agents getting some unheard of cash for their talent level/position.

In all reality, I don't think this affects the playing field much, except for the small market teams that can't afford to pay the full cap anyway, they will be sinking a little lower into oblivion.

In any case, here's to signing Hutch and then loading up with talent on defense with the extra money.
