Seattle Slew!

According to reports in the Minneapolis Start Tribune, and confirmed by Seattle's own Mike Sando, the Vikings will not match the offer Seattle tendered to thoroughbred Nate Burleson, meaning the Seahawks will once again have a "slew" of wide receiver talent when training camp opens in July!

Burleson will be joining a talented and experienced receiver corp that includes veteran Seahawks Darrel Jackson and Bobby Engram, newcomer Peter Warrick, up-and-comer D.J. Hackett, and depth guys like Jereheme Urban, Maurice Mann, and "Collarbone".

While Nate will not a part-for-part replacement for the size, intensity and lockerroom presense of a Joe Jurevicius, he is noteworthy for having just as clutch a set of hands, and for being able to produce yards after the catch.

The irony here is that we lost JJ to the emotional pulls of playing for his hometown Browns, and picked up Nate who was eager to return to Seattle and play for his hometown Seahawks. Let's hope the familiar settings and grandma's cooking has as much effect on Nate's game as it did on Bryce Fisher's improvement last season!

GO SEAHAWKS!!!

  1. Collarbone i forgot all about him with Scobey at the bullet and all. He's a reciever i thought he was the long snapper!!! Again good to see Nate come home i went to high school with his brother which was the home of Corey Dillon. I like Urban in pre season but i don't know if he's good enough to keep i mean how many wideouts are we gonna keep on the active roster. Who the hell is Maurice Mann.

I wanna see us use a 5 reciever set i mean we have the personnel why the hell not.

  2. Mann is a 2nd year guy we got from the Dolphins. Don't know anything about him but saw his name on the Roster!

    Maurice Mann

Actually, we got a kid Skyler Fulton over in NFL Europe that's burning up the league:

And at 6' 3" and 212 pounds, Jereheme Urban could be a "poor man's Joe Jurevicius" if he comes back from his injury. He only made 7 catches in the games he played in 2005, but everyone one of them seemed to be clutch. And if you look closely on a lot of Shaun's early TDs, you'll see #89 doing some fine downfield blocking.

  3. I know getting Burleson was supposed to make a point of sticking to the Vikings and the league about the poison pills but i feel that we got the short end of the stick cause we had to give up a 3rd round pick and the Vikings got Hutch compensation free.

  4. Burleson is a younger, faster JJ...only thing he doesnt have on JJ is height...hes also got a MEAN stiff arm...

I love it, though recent history shows we're pretty good with 3rd round picks...but we'll live!

Now if we could trade that 1st rounder for a 2nd rounder+...

i think trading down is a huge possibility...and Seattle seems very interested in a certain CB i will not name...but i will say this, he will be there when we pick...

  5. Well, I like the too many WRs, I think D-Jack, P-Dub, and... uhhh... N-Burl? are all about the same player as far as strengths and weaknesses. Bobby is slower than them, but similar. I see Mr. Bannister taking the train. Mann may or may not be PS fodder. Hackett and Urban will fight for the final spot, nod to Hackett as long as he is healthy.

Re corners, they still have cap room, I suspect they'll work out Law and Woodson soon, and offer one of them a one year trial deal. I wouldn't mind them locking up Law for 3 or 4. And the draft will roll BPA.
