New Offensive Consultant...theres such a thing?

Former University of Washington football coach Keith Gilbertson is expected to be named an offensive consultant for the Seattle Seahawks.

Official word should come shortly, but Gilbertson won't move far from his Snohomish County roots for his next coaching gig. Gilbertson took over the UW program after Rick Neuheisel was fired in 2003, and guided the Huskies to a 7-16 record in two seasons.

A former head coach at Cal and Idaho, Gilbertson graduated from Snohomish High School. He was a Seahawks assistant from 1996-98 under Dennis Erickson, a fellow Snohomish County native.

  2. what the heck does an offensive consultant do? Are Holmgren's ideas really that tired?

  3. maybe he is the heir to the throne that is Holmgrens?

maybe he gives some input...(PLEASE tell Holmy to do an unpredictable play for once)

or maybe he is there as a therapist for Holmgren's whimpy attitude

its sad i never heard of this guy---i love the Washington college teams, but only the Basketball ones...

  4. It's 3rd and 9 and the Seahawks are backed up on their own 7 yard line in this NFC Championship game.

"I" back formation, Matt changes the call at the line....

Wait a minute, Frank, the Offensive Consultant has just called a time out and went over to consult with Holmgren on his choice of plays.

It seems that Gilby didn't like Mike calling a running play, Bob, on a third and 9 backed up so far into their end of the field. This does not look good.

Holmgren is getting pretty red in the face over there, frank and it looks like he's going to blow his stack at Gilbertson.

Time is running out and the Officials call a delay of game on Gilby.... Holmgren just threw his headset on the turf, Frank. That's half the distance to the goal for delay.

I bet Holmgren is thinking to himself, why on earth he hired an Offensive Consultant?

This one has cost the Hawks dearly and they are now at the 3 and a half yardline down by 6 with 17 seconds to go. This does not look good for the Hawks.

Matt is lined up under center, reciever in motion, IT'S A QUARTERBACK KEEPER!! AND MATT RUNS IT TO THE RAMS 2 YARDLINE WITH 2 SECONDS REMAINING!!! That was a 94 yard gain, Bob.

Shaun Alexander is just livid, Frank. He's holding up a sign that say's, "Stabbed Again". Gilby is in Holmgrens ear again and Shaun stay's on the sidlines, this does not look promising.

Check that, Jesse Lumsden has just come off the bench and lined up in the split back formation.

Ball is snapped, hands off to Jesse who BREAKS THE TACKLES ON THREE RAM DEFENDERS AND LITERALY CARRIES THEM INTO THE ENDZONE, TO TIE THE GAME WITH 2 SECONDS ON THE CLOCK!!!

Its a chip shot extra point to end this NFC Championship game that will end the Hawks 29 year draught and earn them their first Superbowl birth against the Colts.

They're celebrating on the sidelines and Holmgren is sitting on the bench with his head down shaking his head looking like he just lost the game, what gives, Frank?

Its Gilbertson, Bob, he just called in the tying play and Mike is beside himself.

The snap is back and Matt bobbles the ball and TAKES OFF RUNNING WITH THE BALL, HE'S WRAPPED UP AND LATERALS THE BALL TO JESSE AGAIN WHO CRASHES INTO THE ENDZONE, HAWKS WIN BY 2 POINTS!!!

That was unbelievable Bob, and Shaun has his sign up pacing the sidelines again, this does not look good for Alexander.

Gilby has just suggested to Holmgren that he sit Alexander out of the Superbowl and play Jesse Lumsden.

This has been an interesting turn of events and we will see what happens in two weeks in San-Diego, Bob.

Thats Right, Frank. The Hawks Miraculously squeek their way into the big show and 70,000 fans are piling into the streets of Seattle celebrating this victory that has been a long, long time coming.

  6. And lets not forget the role that Tutupu played in this comeback, Bob.

Thats right, Frank, Tatupue set up this whole situation with his late game heroics in the Rams redzone with an interception from Bulger literaly grabbing the rock out of Torry Holts hands.

Nobody believed that Manu could be a starter in this league with his size and speed, Bob.

Thats right, Frank. Thats the same type of thinking people thought about Steve Largent, Bob.

    Its all about heart, Frank.

And that heart, just sent the Rams to the Palm Springs for the Winter Classic where they will watch the Seahawks from the Club house, take on the Colts for Superbowl 30..d..Ah, what the hell number is this again, Bob?

I'm not sure, Frank and I bet the Seattle Seahawks fans don't care.

That concludes our broadcast of the 2006 Championship game with the Hawks defeating the Rams by a score of 33 to 31.
