  1. Jerheme Urban / WR / RFA - cheap
Jimmy Williams / CB / UFA - cheap
Joe Jurevicius / WR / UFA - relatively cheap
Joe Tafoya / DE / UFA - cheap
    John Howell / S / UFA - cheap
*Josh Brown / PK / RFA - Pay him a million. Maybe 2?
Kevin Bentley / LB / UFA - cheap, probably loses his spot to a rookie in camp anyway...
Kevin House / CB / UFA - Uhh, seriously, this guy is on the roster?
*Mack Strong / FB / UFA - If he doesn't retire, pay him like a kicker!
    Marquand Manuel / S / UFA - Pay him IF reasonable, backup S $$
Maurice Morris / RB / UFA - Pay him backup RB $$, cuz that what he is.
Peter Warrick / WR / UFA - Team will have to evaluate, I doubt he sticks, if he comes back healthy great Bobby replacement... if he comes back.
Rocky Bernard / DT / UFA - I'd say must sign, but he'll get more than he's worth to us on the market.
Rodney Bailey / DE / UFA - cheap
*Ryan Hannam / TE / UFA - cheap, less than Mili.
*Seneca Wallace / QB / RFA - If he's gonna be the backup you gotta keep him.
*Shaun Alexander / RB / UFA - Must sign, must be less than 8 mil cap per year hit, 5 years max, unless its one of those with a 50 mil roster bonus the 6th year. Then sign him for 6 @ 90mil, lol.
*Steve Hutchinson / OG / UFA - Sign him for 10 years
Tom Rouen / P / UFA - Uhh, he's a punter. Don't care. I think they should sign me to punt, if I started practicing now I might be able to kick it 45 yards???
Wayne Hunter / OT / RFA - Don't much care, he isn't better than any of our T's, sign him if cheap.

And re all the RFAs, I'd say if a team wants to pay them and pay up with the picks, take the picks and run. Ruskell is the man, and getting another backup QB shouldn't be too tough. Kurt Warner should be available... or Fav-ruh!

  2. If we sign Alexander and Hutch and don't sign anyone else i will consider it a successful free agency. We can get a replacement for everyone except those two guys in the draft.

I would like to see Jurevicous, Strong, Manuel, Brown and Bernard back too. I think we should resign Josh Brown he's really important, i don't wanna be like Dallas so lock him up.

I think i can be a better punter than JoSCh.I just need to work on my hang time.

Who is Kevin House. Has he ever played. I heard of him on this site. Really who is the guy, i can't tell u a single thing on him other than he is a free agent.

If Reinfeldt and Ruskell could deal with last years free agency that well i won't be worried about this one.

  3. Kevin House was an NFL Europe type of player...hes either still on the practice squad or has been released...

Josh Brown is the #3 guy on my list, behind Hutch and Shaun...also want Strong and Hannam back...the rest is whatever to me

  4. I can't believe what I'm reading....no one has JJ as a must sign?!?!?!?

    Our 'best hands' reciever!

The guy allowed us to go on without our starting WRs and has been the most constant WR we have and no one cares if he's let go or not!!! Pitiful!!!

And Rocky? A very very important part of out D line rotation(who would you replace him with for the same money he'd get?)

Everyone talks about signing Shaun to avoid 'changing the things that made us successful, but then you want to let go of key players in that success.

And Josh Brown? One of the best FG/EP kickers in the league....not a must lock? WHY?!?!

Sorry, just a little edgy today, but this is too important a topic to let slide.

  5. Josch, I hope you're kidding about what you think they should be willing to pay Alexander.

  6. Clayton was saying the other day that Shaun should have no problem getting 8 mil per year on the open market. I tend to agree.

After all, now that we've waited, he's the Most Expensive Player.

  7. I don't doubt he'll bring that kind of offer, I'm just not convinced the Hawks (Ruskell) will be able to match it, there are quite a few players to sign and re-sign.

I'm not as sure as most that the deal will get done.

  8. Vin i listed Jurevicous and Rocky as bein important but the way that i say it Alexander and Hutch are the only musts

  9. Hutchinson must (and will) be back. Beyond that, none of the other guys are ABSOLUTELY necessary. Strong may well retire if they win the Super Bowl, but otherwise I'd be damn surprised to see him go anywhere else, though I know the team is very high on Leonard Weaver. Brown should be a fairly cheap sign, and he's been very good, so I have no problem saying they should resign him. Jurevicious will probably get #2 WR money on the open market, and with the way DJ Hackett played I wouldn't spend it. If they can get him for cheap, fine, but you don't break the bank for a #3 WR. Bernard is going to be interesting, because I'm really not sure what sort of interest he'll get from other teams.

All of that brings me to Shaun. First of all, I doubt he'll be back. I think Ruskell and Co. know that as great as he's been this year, you just can't sign a 29-year-old back to the kind of contract he'll likely get from someone. If Shaun wants to take a sizable discount to stay here, or fewer years, then fine, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Running back is actually one of the easiest positions to fill in the NFL. With the players the Seahawks have on the line, and with Hasselbeck, they could either go with Morris and be fine, or take a chance on a guy like Jamal Lewis. For all of the struggles he had this year, he didn't have a real offseason, having spent it in prison. He should be fairly cheap, had a 2000 yard rushing season just two years ago, and is just 26 years old. If they could sign him to a 3-year, $10 million deal I'd do it in a heartbeat. That way, it's not a huge hit if he continues to struggle, but if he rebounds (and behind that line, it's certainly possible), then you've got a 26-year-old All-Pro for relative peanuts.

  11. Maurice Morris sucks, if Alexander goes we should trade porkchop and a draft pick to the Texans and get Reggie Bush. That would be a sweet deal.

i don't think Reggie Bush will be all that great in the pros he has trouble runnin between the tackles, but he's great in open field.

Jamal Lewis isn't good anymore. Why not just trade for Ricky Williams instead. He's a pure power runner but this year he can't make a single cut. Running backs who can't make cuts are as effective as me in the backfield

  12. I dont want any power backs...and especially not Lewis...

I much rather have a speed/elusive back to match our offense---the best example on the market is off the market, that being of course...Brian Westbrook

  13. I'd like to vote for JJ on the must sign list, and think that Hannam may be allowed to pursue free agency, since we already have Mili (a good blocker) and Stevens (a good catcher) under contract.

If we don't sign Shaun, then MoMo is not the answer. I'd hate to trade Chop but we need a feature back to provide balance.

No way Ruskell takes a chance on Jamal Lewis. You can put lipstick and a dress on a pig, but I ain't taking it out on Saturday night!

  14. I say no way to the idea of tradining Womack, he's our backup all the way across the O-line, and he knows the offense. Anyone but Porkchop.

  15. I don't think we would trade Porkchop. He is a proven linemen, can play all the positions except center and just signed a deallast year. No one expected Locklear to step up like he did. I think Porkchop will replace Chris Gray when Gray retires.

  16. wow, Alba's brilliant pig reference went unnoticed...shame shame...nice one Dr. A-ass Dr. A-ass

Porkchop being traded would be stupid...or released for that matter...we have a versatile linemen with him, and should any freak injury occur (knock on wood), he is proven and capable of being a good replacement---anywhere needed

  17. Ditto on not letting Prok Chop go. We need him to replace Gray, who is rapidly living up to his name, and he is the past piece of the puzzle to complete my dream O-line of Jones, Hutchinson, Spencer, Womack, and Locklear!

  19. Re Lewis and Ricky... I don't think either of those guys quite fit the culture of the Seahawks locker room. I wouldn't disagree that either would be effective behind our line, but don't see either happening. If we were to go after a turd, I'd guess Mike Pittman of Tampa. He is a good runner, blocker, and receiver, and his transgressions aren't drug related, he just hits his wife (and babysitter as I recall, with a car!) Or Dookie Davenport, he is a huge guy, and a bit of a fumbler, but I think his fumbling is he carries the ball wrong, his arm is too long to carry it low like he does.

Other guys I'd like, Bryson, UFA Detroit, he is a decent runner, and good blocker and receiver. Labrandon Toefield, RFA Jax, not very proven, but never had to be, he was quite good in college and decent as a backup to Fragile Fred, although he lost his job to Greg Jones. I'd dig on Anthony Thomas or Ron Dayne too, cuz who don't like a feel good story.

And I'm not kidding about 8 mil cap hit for 5 years re Alexander. That should about be what he gets. I was kidding about a 50mil roster bonus the last year, just because it wouldn't matter, its an ego inflater, not to be paid. And everybody I said cheap about should be cheap, and therefore signed. I agree, Joe J is a must sign, but for #3 WR money, cuz that is what he is and will always be barring injury. Admittedly the #3 on our team plays quit a bit, and should get paid like it via incentives or something. How much do you think he's worth? Less than 2mil cap hit per year IMO.

  20. no to LT...that last name bothers my compulsive side

Pittman is just as old as Shaun...except the money would be different...

I say draft one...no matter what, I just dont see them getting Morris and Shaun both back

Not saying I condone this, but my feeling is that if Shaun leaves, Morris is definitely coming back...and will start unless we draft a RB in the draft later on (which is highly possible IF Shaun leaves)

Best case scenerio would be to resign Shaun in a backloaded deal, with a big bonus...and draft a Corner or DE in the draft (or maybe even a DT with Bernard likely to leave...or even a WR, with Engram getting old)...remember these are the Seahawks...they are the most unpredictable team when it comes to offseasons (Detroit is also unpredictable in drafts...but unlike us...they are stupid, too)

  21. The easiest position to fill in the NFL is..... Guard. There is a reason why teams don't draft guards in the 1st round. It's because you can get a starter in the 2-7th rounds! If Hutch wants top 10 lineman dollars to stay, then you just about HAVE to let him go. Lineman cap numbers are inflated by the premium prices paid to left tackles (re: Jones, Walter)
As for running backs being pretty much interchangable, ask that question of the Cardinals, Raiders, Rams, Lions, Bears, ad nauseum. If running backs were so dime a dozon then why are the Cardinals looking to draft another one?
Backs like SA come around rarely. If you are so dense as to want to toss him aside then the Seahawks truely do deserve what they get. No Respect

  22. Alexander and Hutchinson are the 2 must signs! It would be great to get JJ back, we also need Mack Strong. The one player who has performed pretty well and we may need if Hamlin doesn't come back is Manuel. He's actually turned in to be a good pick up and I've heard other teams have been scouting him.
    The man from Montana

    ReplyDelete
  23. 2 things...

Im glad Manual was mentioned, as I completely didnt notice him on the list...I want him back, he has been very impressive

Secondly, reason I dont have JJ as a must sign is due to age, and the fact that we're gonna have to draft a WR sometime very soon (not 1st pick...but im talkin a First DAY pick)...Engram is getting old as is JJ...if we re-sign JJ, it kinda hurts drafting an early WR, because we'll have too many receivers again...and JJ is awesome, but to me, Urban and Hackett are more valuable simply because they are younger, so if we had too many receivers, we'd end up axing Urban or Hackett, which wouldnt be smart...DJack and Engram are staying until their contracts are up, and Bannister doesnt seem to be going anywhere

Having JJ would be great another year, but im just saying, if he didnt come back, it kinda gives this team an opportunity to pick up a receiver now, and by the time Engram retires, that receiver should be pretty valuable and NFL-ready...again, not saying we shouldnt resign JJ, just saying I dont think we HAVE to

  24. Good point on the impact resigning JJ may have on the roster. Don't want to lose Hackett, but would rather have JJ than Urban, as much as I love that kid's heart.

Remember that JJ's wife has family in the Seattle area, so I see him signing a relatively reasonable deal to stay put.

I want to see us retain Manuel too.

  25. As much as I hate to admit it... maomatt is right re Hutch. That is why franchise probably isn't the best idea, he'd get Jones/Pace $$. I do think he should be the highest paid guard, and he will be. He should sign better than Mike Wahle, less then a T. I still say he's a must sign, wonder if they are going to let him test the market.

  26. if they want a new guard, might as well keep Hutch, and use the new guard on the other side...

  27. If we do end up drafting another WR (and I'm not sure we need one). It needs to be someone who can return punts. Warrick was brought in for the that reason and has been a disappointment.. I love Urban and Hackett as well but unless one (probably Urban) is willing to make a significant contribution on Special Teams we're going to have cut ties.
