The Sun Is Out!...And The Demon Is DEAD!

The rain stopped falling for a brief moment, and the sun shined in the same timeframe...and the Seahawks emerged, sword in hand, standing above the fallen demon---the final demon. They look at the top of the mountain, knowing its time to conquer the land

Say whatever you want here...i dont feel like typing out a topic yet...celebrate, the rain is over!...Ill add some stuff later...

Holmgren killed his personal demon, and now has defeated all 32 teams in the NFL
Shaun injured early, along with huge keys...and Hass and DJack carried the team
Strong broke the franchise record for longest run in the postseason at 32
Redskins fell under our game killing spell---drops...but they were more lucky then us, so whatever

  3. Thanks Tricky, very classy of you to congratulate us. Your guys played hard. No way we win this game giving up the ball 3 times if we're not at home.

    Bring on the Bears!

  4. I posted my comments throughout the game on the forums. I wasn't sure where else to post them. :) It's not hard to feel good about this game as a 'Skins fan. True, we didn't get the win but we played tight and kept it a game. Still, Seattle has an explosive offense. I think that showed through every time the 'Skins had you guys bottled up, but you somehow pulled out a good play. You can't hold a good team down for long. On the other side of the ball, your defense played very well. I don't know how many times I yelled at the TV for someone to help Brunell out. No one could get open and that just really messed up our hopes at developing some rhythm.

I've said all season long that the 'Skins strength is not in how they perform, but in how they make the other team perform. We affect gameplans in ways that I have not seen any other team achieve. In other words, we drag you down to our level. :)

But even with us dragging you guys down, you still managed to perform well. I think it'll ultimately be a good tune-up for whomever you play next. Against Carolina, you'll have a great shot because your offense is better than theirs, and your defense is probably slightly better as well. Against the Bears, well - it won't be any worse than it was against the 'Skins, and you've already proven you can handle that load.

I'm looking forward to watching the outcome. I love the NFL! :)

  6. hey tricky, curiosity question...are u one of the people that think we're overrated because of the weak schedule?

i hope this changes peoples minds...our defense bends but rarely breaks

  7. I have to admit, also, I felt a little bad early on when all of those 'Hawks players were going down by injury. I hate to see anyone get hurt. Besides, I want our best team to play your best team. :) But I guess, at the time, I felt like... we're a tough team and you guys have been resting for a couple of weeks. I thought maybe it was just one of those situations where we're battle ready from the past few weeks, whereas you guys were a little soft from the rest. But there was a mid-game transformation from the 'Hawks - and I really feel like Darrel Jackson led that with his own show of toughness. Good stuff.

  8. Someone with an FNM pic for his profile could never get on my bad side. :)

I don't know what I might have said in the past ;) but being honest, I was definitely of the opinion that it was indeterminate as to how good you guys were because of your weak schedule. It's hard to know how a team will react to being punched in the mouth, so to speak, by a hungry team - when they've coasted through an easy season.

I think we all got the answer to that.

  9. thanks man...and FNM is my 2nd favorite band, behind Nirvana (im not from seattle so dont think im a full out homer)

Alexander's injury was bittersweet...because now the world knows we can beat a good team with a ton of momentum, WITHOUT the guy everyone thinks carries us, Shaun...

I think the world has now found out that Hass is an ELITE QB...and he can run, as shown...i love it...and we didnt even use our secret weapon---DJ Hackett!

  10. Good stuff Tricky. The Skins played well but to be honest i never for a fraction of a second taught that we would lose.I had everyone around me sayin we would lose but i knew we wouldn't lose. This was a great game and i think that Washington is a better team than Chicago and Carolina.

I think the Skins will only get better in the upcoming season. Draft some offensive players in this draft instead of a DB.

  11. Dead Monkeys Littering Qwest Field:

    1. first playoff win in 22 years
    2. first Holmgren coached team to beat the Redskins
    3. young defense can't keep up with class QB/Receivers

And the Seattle Seahawks are now the ONLY team to make it to both the AFC and NFC championship game.

And how about billionaire Paul Allen in a baseball cap addressing the team after the game. CLASSIC!

Bring on the Bears! (although I expect the Panthers to beat them tomorrow)

  17. And how appropriate is it that Mack Stong now holds the franchise record for the longest run in the playoffs??!!!

(Not to mention that Matt outgained Shaun 21 to 9 with each having 6 rushing attempts!)

  18. Not to look past next week,, but wouldn't it be sweet for the Hawks to spank Denver in the SB, for all the diss'n they put up with in the AFC west durin the bad years.

  23. NFC Championship game here we come!

I kinda hope it's the Bears, we will kill them, the Panthers would give us a better game, but we will beat them too.

This was the game I was most nervous about, now that this one is under our belt, the NFC Championship game should be easier.

BTW How goodd is this team when it loses the leagues MVP for most of the game against a terrific defense, who game planned us perfectly, and Matt Hasselbeck put the team on his shoulders and got it done. We gave up three turnovers, lost our MVP and still won, that's good...that's really, really good!

  26. Yes, the Seahawks are the only team to play in the CHampionship of both leagues.

Yes, the Seahawks showed remarkable resillience losing 3 turnovers and the MVP and still finding a way to win the game.

Yes, home field is DEFINITELY an advantage! (see above)

Yes, the Seahawks have grown to enjoy a bye week!

Yes, Matt Hasselbeck is a top 3 QB

Yes, winning a playoff game should bring this club the national respect they so richly deserve

Yes, the Seahawks have a wonderfully dorky owner

Yes, Seattle WILL host a SuperBowl

  30. nice pic alba, funny stuff

Vin-Manning, Palmer, and maybe Big Ben, and maybe Brady or Mcnabb...

its a 6 way cage match...Manning is the best, BUT hes not BY FAR the best over anyone...

people need to understand his TD record wouldnt of happened if the Colts didnt whine about aggressive coverage geting the rule changed...

now us corners cant blanket people anymore...its a hard position to play, i even thought about changing to safety for awhile there

    ReplyDelete
  31. Manning's the best? Did you watch the game today?

Manning is average when pressured. Matt's far better under pressure right now. And another thing Manning, Palmer and Brady, where are their teams next week?

Brady couldn't play his team to a victory, nore could Peyton or Carson.

Tell me, did Matt? What would his numbers have been (not to mention our record) had he had Jackson all season?

Matt in the top 3? Hell yes!

And Ben better than Matt? Not by any stretch of the imagination bro.

  32. Sorry 'bout that.....got a bit carried away.

    ReplyDelete
  33. no kiddin, relax vin lol

Manning sucks under pressure because hes one of the most immobile QBs in the league...Trent Dilfer prolly runs better then him...

Ben's success speaks for itself, though I do think it helps halving two huge RBs to drain the clock

    ---

Pain me as it does to admit it, you're still the victim of a weak schedule. The 'Skins, I'm saying, just aren't a juggernaut. The post-game hype is going on-and-on in 'Skins town about how we overachieved and we should be happy to have made it this far and next year, next year, next year.

And the 'Hawks won't get much credit for putting a team down that they should have put down - especially not when everyone is drooling over Pittsburgh upsetting the Colts and Denver upsetting the Pats (whether or not you believe they were, indeed, upsets). They'll just keep saying, "well, the 'Skins offense wasn't as good as the Panters, Steelers, or the Broncos. They didn't take advantage of your mistakes. You can't play as poorly as you did against those other three teams. Blah blah blah."

So don't worry about it! Just go out there and beat the Panthers, make it to the Superbowl, and beat the Steelers/Broncos. Then everyone can say all they want about how this or that, the 'Hawks got lucky, weak schedule, whatever - and you guys can just point to the championship banner hanging inside that pretty stadium of yours.

  37. adp,
The dorks at ESPN and SI and elsewhere don't kow what they're talking about. All year they've been droning on about how Indi was by FAR the best team in the NFL, that they were in a totally different league, that no one could stop them from a superbowl. Heck, they would have just given them the Lombardi trophy after week 12 if they could have.

Has anyone come out and said "Wow, I was totally wrong about that!"? Not that I have heard.

What a great job it must be to be a Football "expert". All you do is sit around and watch football games that are put in front of you - you neve go searching for thos obscure games from way out in Seattle or even Mile High. Just watch the Eagles, Giants, and a few other select teams each week. Then you pull something out of your butt, print it up, and have no more responsibility for it. If you're wrong, you ignore it. If you're right, then you crow about it. No responsibility, not effort, no real work, and certainly no thought.

Kinda like me posting on this blog. I just say stuff, never back it up, never even make the effort to actually join as a contributor. Just talk. Only I don't get paid the big bucks for my contribution to the sports discussions.

"Indianapolis is IN the superbowl. And Seattle won't win a playoff game because they haven't since 1984. They just don't ahve the drive and the will!"

    Yeah, right.

I take a hell of a lot of pride in my job (which has nothing to do with sports). I do everything I can to make sure I'm doing my job well. I try to be right whenever I can, and I take responsibility if I make a mistake. And when I am not sure of something, I let the client know I may not be right.

I don't get paid nearly as much as some idiot ex-athlete that blathers his opinions without doing even the most simple research, like actually watching the team he's commenting on. It pretty much disgusts me that they let some of these so-called "experts" write and talk about the NFL. Sure, maybe they played the game 20 years ago, maybe they know alot about the game itself, but to comment on how teams are playing - that takes a lot of work, watching the games, breaking them down, seeing how they fared against similar opponents, etc. I bet few watch even half the games they should. They just ride the gravy train, and spout whatever nonsense they want without any responsibility whatsoever. If they played and/or coached like that, they never would have made it on even a college team.
