NFC Championship: Moonlight Graham Award

Wait a minute. How can the award given to a player who steps out of obscurity be given to a member of a team heading for the Super Bowl? There's something seems to be something wrong here, but then again, nothing has ever felt so right!

So, my challenge today is to first find a player considered to be obscure on the team that is the #1 seed in the NFC, with the league MVP on its roster, and the one who is making its first Super Bowl appearance in its 30 year history.

Obviously, from that last sentence, the entire TEAM could be considered for this award, for the Seattle Seahawks have shed EVERY monkey off its organizational back this season, and can no longer be considered one of the "also rans" of the league.

  1. Good call, this late in the season giving it to Seneca makes total sense. I like it!

It really makes me wonder too, what Holmgren has in mind for Seneca next game, I mean, he did that play for more than just to say thanks to Seneca, I believe he was setting something up for the next game. Can't wait to see what it is.

  2. I'm watching the NFL Total Access show I recorded after we won last Sunday, and I should have named "Dexter Jackson" our MGA winner this week, since that's what Rich Eisen just called Darrell TWICE during the highlight package!

  3. Allow me to be Phil Simms for a second: "I knew it! I knew he was going to pick Seneca!"

Nice job. I feel the MGA is specifically designed for such a performance.

  4. Ehh, I thought it was a yawner... oh, wait, no I didn't. That play was so fricking awesome, "Its a trick play" Nope Kenny, normal play, you just got beat on a route by a backup QB. How's that $$$ treating ya?

It will be interesting to see what "trick play" is run, if any. I'd bet Wallace gets on the field, whether they go to him or not is questionable, but that is the great thing about it, now he's a pretty big distraction.

  5. Seneca Wallace is now what Alfred Hitchcock would describe as a "McGuffin."

And is it just me, or does anyone else think that Holms was turning a bit of a screw on Lucas with that play? Something tells me that Lucas hated going against Wallace during practice, or something like that.

I think there's WAY more about that play than anyone outside the organization truly knows...both from a strategy standpoint as well as an "in your face" standpoint.

  6. Good job alba couldn't agree with ya more. I would want to see one go to Paul Allen if we win the Super Bowl but he's not a player.

I remeber last year when all of the recievers were banged up Senneca was playin reciever during practice and i remember readin someone sayin if u keep playin like that u will become a reciever, who knows it might of been Lucas.

What now Steelers yall got Randal El we got Senneca Wallace. Letes let the trickery begin.

  7. returning punts is not something you can pick up overnight, so I don't think we'll put an inexperienced backup QB back there for the biggest game in franchise history. However, if we get a seasoned vet as a backup through FA next season, we may see more of Seneca the WR/PR for sure.
