Dave Brown - Rest in Peace

According to Mike Sando, former Seahawk DB and assistant coach Dave Brown passed away unexpectedly while playing basketball at Texas Tech, where he was an assistant coach. Dave was an outstanding force on the Seahawks of the 80s and is a member of the Ring of Honor.

You can view his Ring of Honor highlight reel and read the retrospective on him by Mike Kahn on Seahawks.com

  1. Oh, man, this is sad news. He was the first autograph I ever got from any star. I was in the 4th grade, and we lived in Kennewick. My dad took me to Sporthaus Northwest, where Dave Brown was sitting at a table giving away signed B&W pictures of himself. He was very cool, asked my name, what I like to do, and then wrote a little paragraph on it to me about reaching goals, with best wishes. Definitely a cool guy.

The only thing is that he added an 'e' to the end of my name, effectively effeminating me. My brother had fun with that one.

Consolation and prayers to all his family, and everyone that knew him. He touched a lot of people in Seattle and beyond.

  2. It is always sadening to hear the death of anyone, but when someone who was important to a franchise as Dave Brown was. he will be dearly missed. Not to associate competition with a death but the Seahawks should go and win this one for Dave Brown.

I have been a Seahawks fan my whole life but i am kinda younger and never saw Dave Brown play a live game. But as a fan of the franchise i have read many things about him, and seen higlight tapes of him.

My heart goes out to the family of dave Brown.

  3. same as meezy, as i didnt follow the Seahawks then, because of my age...but i did see clips of him, and read a lot of things about him...hell, when i was doing the TWI, he was one that i did...and i learned alot about him in doing so.

Heres hoping he wont be forgotten---i dont wanna soil the real purpose behind this topic, but ESPN has yet to say anything, even on its NFL subsite about this which is frustrating...the guys deserved some credit for abeing a GREAT player, and he wont be forgotten in the Ring Of Honor

  4. There will probably be coverage today, once they have a chance to verify and research the story.
