  1. A couple of thing I'll be watching for:

    1. Julius Peppers. If I can tell what shoulder is bothering him by the way he plays, then I know he's hindered and Holmgren and co. should run AT him, use a TE to crack down on him, and leave Mack Strong to handle the OLB.

    2. The matchup of RG Steve Hutchinson vs. DT Jordan Carstens. The last time Carstens faced a RG near the caliber of Hutch was in week 16 vs. Larry Allen of Dallas. Play after play, Carstens was manhandled and blown five yards off the line of scrimmage. Carolina tried to protect him by using slants to fill gaps, but the hole consistently created by the vacant DT alllowed Julius Jones to run for 194 yards.

That was three games ago, and I expect Hutchinson to have a similar game against him. And now with Peppers ailing, I expect the cutback lane to be available as well.

    3. I will not gawk and worry over every replay of Steve Smith burning Trufant or Dyson. That's just gonna happen.

I will, however, be concerned if he routinely torches the safety help, or if I see him with the ball in his hands in the end zone. He's going to make to great, highlight reel plays, but the key to the game here is to not let them turn into points. While the play against him needs to be agressive, I see no need to worry about a few good plays by Smith.

    4. A lot of talk about Shaun Alexander 'getting involved early' has been overstated. Shaun's greatest running games don't usually come from 'getting involved early', but not until at least the second drive, when the passing game has opened up some running lanes to get him started.

I'll be looking for play action off the bat, because WITHOUT A DOUBT Carolina would like to take Shaun out of the offensive equation, and will be vulnerable to the fake handoff and short pass over the LB's heads, or if the safety is in the box, the deep pass to the wide receivers.

    Anything you'll be looking for?

  2. 1. Peter Warrick's confidence level catching and running back punts

    2. Lofa's dominance

    3. Smith being banged around like a drunken freshman coed at a fraternity keg party

    4. scantily clad Seagal Gena !

  3. Well thought out points Blue. Can't wait for the game to start. I think the O-line might dominate in this game.

Say, is the fiery seahawk logo going faster than normal? Me thinks so.
