GAMEDAY: Seahawks @ Packers

Today's matchup is a curious one: It is both meaningless and yet it matters much. It is both insignifiacant and imperative, unnecessary yet momentous.

As far as the NFL playoffs are concerned, this game has all of the intrigue of paint drying. But as far as many of the players are concerned, they will be approaching this as the game of their lives. A precipitiosly declining Brett Favre will be playing this game like it is his last (and probably is). Shaun Alexander has a realistic chance to procure the NFL rushing title AND the single season touchdown record AND the single season scoring record, but he may not get the playing opportunity to receive ANY OF THEM. ANd last but also least, many of the Seahawks' backup players are excited about an opportunity to shine.

This just heard on ESPN countdown: "Holmgren sat down Alexander earlier this week, and told him that the records he is chasing are important, and he is going to help him get it. But his health and the playoffs are also important, and if he doens't get it within a certain amount of time, he is going to pull him."
