Alan's D.O.G.: Divisional Playoff vs Washington

Extremely Corny Bronze Racecar: PLAYOFF STYLE!

While most of us are still giddy over the playoff win, there's still awards to be handed out.

A quick sidestory: I flew out of Seattle on Sunday (didn't go to the game). There were a lot of Redskins fans in the airport. And let me tell you, it was really hard not to say stuff like, "I wasn't even alive the last time the Seahawks won in the playoffs." I ended up sitting next to two of them on the flight. They said Washington, "needed more offense."

In this edition we talk about curses, discuss quantum physics, suggest another MVP for the game, and of course hand out the most coveted trophy in all of footbll...except for maybe this one. But trust me, its up there.

This and more all await you at...Alan's Drive of the Game.

  1. Alan - Great work as always, although since "Shaun" is a unisex name, you probably could have used the "in the second round" graphic for "Shuan went down"!

Now you guys are going to force me to bang out a Moonlight Graham post, but I've got the day off (MLK) and got some work to do, so it'll come a little later.

I tend to agree that MoMo's contribution was HUGE, but what this really means is that the OFFENSIVE LINE was the MVP of this game.

Not to sound like a Viranda clone, but MoMo was able to pick up those key first downs and move the chains due to the dominance of the guys up front.

And what can you say about the defense that we haven't been saying all year long. Lofa is a STUD. Downfield 40 yards in pass coverage and DRAWS an interference call. Blew up guys in open field one-on-one tackles, and had the D-line in the EXACT right position all game long.

Stayed up til 2:30am last night watching that game again. It was two-thirds of a masterpiece, with the obvious gaffs on special teams. However, that being said, both Williams and Scobey made some GREAT plays in that game, so they shouldn't be tagged with the Goat label too much.

Next week I'm feeling a full orchestra to all be on the same page, with conductor Matt Hasselbeck happy to have his virtuoso diva back and healthy, and the backstage crew (special teams) primed and ready for the last dress rehearsal before the big show!

  2. Did anyone else but me notice the "in your face" manuever that Hass pulled on one of his midfield scampers? He ran for 4-5 yards getting the first down, and then went into the hook-slide to avoid an on-coming linebacker trying to take his head off.

After Matt got up he started running to the huddle with the ball, then doubled back, and gently placed it right next to the prostrate linebacker.

    It was SWEET!

  3. That pass to Joe showed how far Matt's come in his career. Great communication during the play.

I noticed that too. Matt seems to get pissed when he slides, and someone hits him anyway, especially since it's never called (of course if a Seahawks linbacker touches a sliding QB, it's a 15 yeard penalty).

Was that Washington he gave the ball to? I hope so. He had some rude comments about SA being no big deal (which is kinda funny, since he ended up getting his butt handed to him by undersized Mo Mo and a geriatric fullback. Imagine how SA would have treated him and the DC defense in the 2nd half....)

  5. I like Hass. He's tough and has a bit of a temper, along with a sense of humor. He's kind of a combination of Steve Young, Brett Favre and Jim McMahon.
