Believe It!!! Hasselbeck and Alexander to Be Retained

Mike Reinfeld, you are my freakin' HERO. The rumors from yesterday's posts are aparrently true.

It is good to be a Seahawks fan again.

Read this from the Seattle Times. Evidently the Seahawks have signed Hasselbeck to a long term contract, and the franchise tag will be applied to Shaun today.

Add that to the hiring of Ruskell, and I'd say it's a pretty good day in Seahawks land.

I've gone from giddy to num to giddy again. What's next? Mushin Muhammed?

i love it!!! such a happy end to a horrible season...

you beat me to this one again!!

now we have a shot at free agents that aren't ours!!! nice...

and if Alexander wants out...trade him for a receiver or LB...hell, maybe we could entice Minnesota with a Alexander+K Rob for Moss trade...that aint TOO horrible for both sides

then again I want Alexander to stay

  3. Hey guys, watch the cussing. I don't want to get the site shut down. Just don't post anything you wouldn't want your mamma reading.

I really hate deleting otherwise good posts on that account.

    GO SEAHAWKS!!!

  4. Too much great news. Gawd I hope not Moose, if we want to get an old guy who can catch the ball, why not stick with the GOAT (sorry Mr. Largent). I hope they go after David Givens, he is an RFA. I think he would work great opposite D Jackson. Or, keeping with trading to Minny, send SA and K-Drop for O Smith, Nate Burleson, and anything else they would throw in. Nate is a Seattle guy, would probably fit well, only slightly smaller than K-Drop. O Smith has great potential as a WCO back, I would be willing to overlook a little hemp for the SOD. Nachos

  5. Oh happy day. Oh happy day!

Now hopefully, we put an exclusive franchise tag on Shaun, and continue negotiations on him on a long term deal, while working hard on deals for Lucas and the others. The next big deadline, (assuming that we franchise Shaun) is the start of Free agency. We have another week and a half to get some of our players signed before they get the chance to test the open market. In my mind, Lucas is priority, any thoughts?

  7. So as I understand it, we now have a president, no Vice president, no GM (Fergie was fired Monday night) no scouting director, and everything else is filled, correct?

I don't know the exact responsibilities that a President has vs. a GM, but I would still like to get Randy in our system. I truly respect that guy, and would love to see him as our GM. As far as scouting directors, I don't know enough about that, so I'll have to trust Ruskell to pick that position.

    What a day!

As far as Lucas, I dont' see him commanding too much money from anyone else. There are a ton of good DB's in the draft, and quite a few good ones available through FA/Trading as well. I love his youth, his talent, and his chemistry with the rest of our DB's. I say we sign him first, then Tobeck, then Chike/Womack (both replaceable in my opinion if they ask for too much).

    It's getting exciting...

  11. Just out of curiosity its interesting that right after the mariners had a big offseason, the seahawks go on and spend some money as well, when a lot of people were expecting a slash and burn of the roster. It would be interesting to do some research to see if there is any statistical evidence that demonstrates cross sport offseason competition between two different sports in the same town. If the seahawks didn't spend any money, it would have looked awfully pathetic in face of the mariners spending spree. Does this bode well for the Sonics?
