Tim Ruskell has been officially hired
Longtime personnel chief Tim Ruskell, who served the past year as the Atlanta Falcons assistant general manager, will be the new team president of the Seattle Seahawks, ESPN.com has confirmed.
The official announcement of Ruskell's hiring, after an exhaustive search, is expected to be made within the next few days. Ruskell agreed to what is believed to be a five-year contract, league sources said, and will oversee all areas of the Seattle football program.
Not a bad pickup for us...hopefully he will bring in Reinfeldt

Ferguson officially fired...any thoughts on this in particular?
*my first thread thingy...*
I just wonder about the GM Position, is Ruskell going to assume those duties? Is he going to hire someone (please Randy, please!)? What about a VP (Please Mike Reinfeldt Please!)?
ReplyDeletewell im not sure which article I got it from, but one suggested that he may bring in Reinfeldt again...
ReplyDeleteRandy Mueller would be a great addition too...if they could pick up all 3 (the other two are open about wanting to work here)...then we would have 3 of the top 4 candidates we were lookin at (Pats guy being the other)...I would say it was worth the wait
especially considering we didn't lose any of the 3 big names
Reinfeldt really impressed me. I knew he'd do a great job, but never expected this.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. If a were standing in front of Reinfeldt, I'd probably hug him and shed a tear.
ReplyDeleteOk, maybe not, FO guys seem pretty uptight. But I'd at least try to coax out a high-five.
There is something weird going on here, though. I'm not sure if Ruskell will be the new Prez, as has been suggested. He might be the new GM. After all, his forte is asessing talent, and a GM is closer to doing that than PFO. Besides that, he was just the assistand to the GM in Atlanta.
Another thing is that the news articles say Furgeson was fired; the Seahawks official site say he resigned. I just wonder if we is gone because Ruskell is pretty much overlapping his GM job, if not replacing it. I also wonder if Paul Alen was P.O.'d at Bob somehow in this Hasselbeck deal, and had to step in because we were going to lose him or Alexander. If that happened to me, I'd be clearing my desk, too.
Should be interesting how this all shakes out. In any event, this is a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, good day.
AN endearing thing I just read about Ruskell: He started his NFL career 20 years ago as a ball boy for the Tampa Bay Bucs.
ReplyDeleteThis guy's gotta love football!
How about a DE?
ReplyDeleteJason Taylor?
I wouldn't mind Jason Taylor...I wouldn't mind taking a shot (a long one at that) at Shelton Quarles...
ReplyDeletebut if we keep on lacking a pass rush, we would be better off going to a 3-4 defense
come draft day, I would rather Seattle getting a LB or DE in the 1st round...and only get a RB if Shaun is traded for a LB or DE...
WRs aren't really high on the draft boards so far...maybe round 2
I lik ethe fundamental concept of the 3-4 defense with the way the league is right now. It lets you sent a lot of different blitz packages in. But I don't beleive we have the personnell to run it effectively. Wistrom and Okeafor are both a little undersized for that, as well as Simmons and Brown.
ReplyDeleteHow about Reinfeldt as GM? I dunno. I guess it's up to Ruskell now. It's his baby.
ReplyDeleteI hope Reinfeldt does become permanent...ive seen several articles over the last few weeks stating that both he and Randy M. would like to work in our front office again
ReplyDeleteif we pulled off the trifecta...man...I would say not to get too optmistic, but after this crazy offseason (Seahawks, Mariners...even the Sonics)...how could you not? lol
