Reinfeldt Getting Busy

I don't envy Reinfeldt, considering the position he is in.

At least this time we have some cap room - $28 million is available. But do we have the time to get it done?

Who should we sign first? Hasslebeck? Jones? Alexander? Lucas? Okeafor? Will they sign at all?

A few key dates coming up:

Feb 8-22: Franchise players must be named within this period.
March 2: Free Agency period begins. Also trading period begins.
April 23-24: NFL Draft.

  1. I think the obvious choice is Hass. He could be the start of teh ball rolling. We all know that Shaun and Walter are going to be the big issues, trying to keep their numbers down, but I think that it'll be easier to get them signed, once the team shows a commitment to signing. And how better to do that than to sign the QB?

  2. Amen, bros.

He's also the most important cog in Homgren's machine.

  3. I also think that Matt could be a player that would allow for special considerations on signing him, allowing for more free money. He's a true team player(as proven by his lack of noise over the lack of a contract throughout the season). But hey, who knows, right?

  4. I think you're right about that Vinny, but you never know, he's do a payday. The one thing is that he hasn't been able to win a playoff game yet, so any protestations he may make will likely fall on deaf ears. He is our most important cog, but he hasn't peaked yet and so might also be, (as Vinny said) the guy who can be most easily talked into a decent deal for the team.

  5. I'm frightened by something that happened yesterday. I love Urban as much as anyone else. I think he will be a great player for us in the future, and would absolutely hate losing him. But why are we upping his contract while we have so many free agents to spend money on right now? Could it not have waited until next year?

  6. Maybe they are fixing to make him a starter. Any word opn how much? Maybe he's getting Koren's puff money.

  7. Rice did say in interviews before the S.B. and on ESPN, that he wants to play somewhere that he can play, and contribute. He didn't sound tooo keen on coming back to Seattle next season, therefore the Urban move was probably good one.

    Good call guys.

  9. I saw it Vinny, LOL!
I hope the Urban signing is not only a sign that we're about to cut Rice loose, but that the FO is sending a message to K Rob as well, about getting his act together. Rice is ancient and really didn't help this team at all last year, (except on the monday night game where he always shines) also he's just holding back other better deserving players at this point in his career. (Also we need to put #80 back in retirement where it dang well belongs!)

  10. I agree, Rice filled a spot last year, he was more valuable as a mentor than a starter, I think what he did do was show the other WRs how to prepare and play with heart, but he's not a player we need. I'm also with ya on the message being sent to Robinson (Jackson too).
