Below is an email response I got from Becky after complimenting her the her "Seahawks Almost Hall of Fame" page on her Beckys-Place.com Seahawks fan site:
Hi AlbaNYhawker!
OK, I'm losing my mind. Not sure whether or not I replied to your message because I've forwarded it to several people, but anyway, I'll answer this time just in case I hadn't written back to you yet!
No, I've never seen 12 Seahawks Street before! HOW AWESOME!!! I'll be glad to link you up to my site. I love the name of it -- 12 Seahawks Street! Wish I'd have thought of that! :-)
Have you come across the Mid West Sea Hawkers site yet? You might want to drop them a line and let them know about the link. Lots of displaced Seahawks fans right there (I'm a member, too!) and they're going to love your site!
Good luck and thanks for letting me know about your site! If you ever want to meet up with them for a game, they have awesome tailgate parties and events. Even though it's the MW, there are other fans from across the country in the club as well.
Becky
she seems like a cool person...i know you've guys have talked about her site in the past...
ReplyDeleteive only been there once, as far as i remember
I've loved Becky's site for a long time, before I started hitting the message board at the PI, I spent a lot of time on her page.
ReplyDeleteShe will definitely be a welcome addition here if she decides to stay.

Do we have obvious links to these other blog sites? Might not be a bad idea.

check - check out the second drop down labeled Seahawks Links on the right, then select More Seahawks Links...and there you'll find some other sites, including Becky's.

We actually owe Becky a lot for the inspiration for the street. For example, the idea of 'Adopt-a-Seahawk' actually came after seeing her Ken Hamlin page.
ReplyDeleteI don't imagine we'll ever pull her away from her own site, it's quite a masterful production, especially considering it's a non-commercial fan site like ours. But I would be honored if she wanted to accept an 'honorary contributorship' just so she can drop in and say hi whenever she felt like it.
If you're reading this Becky, major kudos to your site - you have influenced the design, features, scope and attitude of 12 Seahawks Street more than you will ever know.
***Cyber tip-of-the-hat***
Drop in anytime, Becky!
Wow. I'm speechless!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the kudos. How kind of all of you! I'd never run into your site before but it's awesome and I'm glad AlbaNY Hawker dropped me a line. How long has this site been in existence? I do a search for Seahawks every so often to see if new sites have popped up but I missed this one completely. SORRY!!!
I'm also glad you ran with the Ken Hamlin idea for your Adopt a Seahawk. I actually got the idea from my other love, Aussie Rules Football (it fills my NFL off-season!), when an Aussie friend told me he tracks one player all year. I recommended it to the Mid West Sea Hawkers in our inaugural year but no one seemed too interested, so I'm happy to see that you decided to give it a try here. I'll be curious to read your comments throughout the year.
I probably won't post too often here because I have so little free time -- I can barely keep up with my own site -- but I think it's great that this is such an active blog and I wish you tons of success with your site. I'll pop in from time to time and eavesdrop on you all. GOOD LUCK and thanks again!

The pleasure is ours.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, this site was born February 12, 2005, after the Seahawks' season was basically over for us and the Seattle PI abandoned the blog a few of us were addicted to.
AT first it looked a little something like this. Not much, but it got us by. But with the fun, enthusiastic, and insightful core of fans we had here, it didn't take long to be something worth checking every day.
Since this site has only existed this off season, I have a question for you, Becky - how much busier does your site get during the regular season? I've got a feeling we might be in for a few growing pains.
