It's hard enough to play against 11 opponents, but when the referees are on the other team, it's down right unfair. Add 3 more for Madden, Michaels and Tafoya, and it's amazing we scored any points at all.
this thread should be renamed to 'Kavorka' for 'lure of the animal'...its luring this beast to going off about refs AGAIN...lol
to be honest, im actually sick of having to go off them, but it just wont stop, its way too constant and blatant
i dont expect us to go 16-0, but i do expect more fair games, if it was one major horrible call a season, maybe...but not 5 or 6 blatant screwups
i might go to referee school and if i make it...Seahawks vs. Rams playoffs II...im gonna give them a 5000000 yard penalty for eating grass another rams pooped up
Ever since Testeverde's helmet touchdown, I've never felt like we got our due from the officials.
However, it goes both ways...when David Green ran out of the endzone, the head referee is looking right at his feet. You would think that as soon as he stepped out of bounds there would be a call. Nope, I'm fairly sure it was another official that made the call. The head ref allowed the play to continue for a few seconds before realizing what a safety was. Those guys were terrible.
Realist, it's called pre-season! The starting D wasn't all that bad, and with Moore and Woodard coming back for the regular season we'll have our starting rotation in at DT. Though Tru made a couple stpuid mistakes again, the starting D actually wasn't that bad. Though we obviously still need to work on tackling(White looked great last night though, as did Darby and Tubbs).
I think you're off by about 19-20 ranking spots on your' estimate, as I said it's pre-season and we still have some rough spots to smooth out.
I hate to agree with realist, I really do. But we do have to stop blaming the refs. We all know that they blew the Vinnie helmet call. We all know that they blew the Keyshawn touchdown call. And most of us probably agree with the tripping our receiver call. But how seriously can we expect to be taken if we use a perceived bias from the referees as an excuse.
I once had a great wrestling coach, who gave me some advice i'll never forget. Among the things he told me was this. I had just lost a close match because of a blown call by the ref, and was understandably and visibly upset. Coach called me over and said "I know you feel like you were cheated. I know you feel that you won that match. Life isn't always fair. Sometimes you have to beat the refs too. So next time, just make sure that there is no question who won."
Everyone in the NFL can complain about the refs. Heck, everyone in sports can complain about the refs, they aren't perfect and will blow calls. And I'm sure that every team feels that they are slighted more, whether they really are or not. We have blown touchdown calls, I can remember a coin toss that was blown for another team. We complain about refs tripping us, I saw a ref run to seemingly interrupt a pass pattern this weekend. It happens. And for the Seahawks to be taken seriously, they have to stop complaining about what the refs do, and realize that sometimes you have to beat the refs too.
That being said, realist is a moron if he actually thinks the defense is going to be lower than 15. I personally think top ten, but I'd be willing to accept an opinion up to 15. Beyond that, you're dreaming.
Great advice Paulie, and I agree with you about not complaining about it. We need to beat people decidedly for 4 quarters and then one or two blown calls won't matter.
One piece of clarification though. The ref is considered part of the field, so if a player runs into a ref, or visa versa, it's not a blown call. You don't get a "do-over." It just sucks, and you have to move on.

I guess it's preseason for the refs, too.

The refs made calls like somebody f***** them in the eye socket.

im sure he doesnt want to bring up the refs tripping our players to help his team win...
ReplyDeletethat team is in way worse shape then us
you know theyre a little intimidated when they go around talking smack all day
i have yet to be worried about the Cardinals and Rams this offseason, and im still not...I dont think either one wins more then 8 games
