Citizen K really likes Shaun Alexander, AKA "Mr. Seahauk." What in the world is there not to like about a guy who regularly scores two to four touchdowns per week, leads the league in rushing yardage, yards per attempt, and scoring touchdowns?...
CitK - Great post, and I created the teaser post on the main blog for you, according to our new format.
I too love this team, the togetherness, the offensive efficiency, and the way we're starting to get noticed.
This game will mean nothing though, if we don't take care of business against the Cowgirls next week. THAT'S the Texas game that everyone will be paying attention to.
Our team reminds me of the Colts of the past few seasons. Awesome offense with a "bend but don't break" defense. However, I think our defense is jelling and will keep us in the hunt all season.
And not to disagree with you on your own sub-blog, but the Weaver stiff arm WAS a thing of beauty. Not only from a pure football perspective, but for the attitude and toughness that it illustrated.
This was a rookie. In garbage time. Against a thoroughly defeated opponent.
He could have easily gone out there and dove into the middle of the line to kill the clock, but DUDE WANTED YARDAGE!
That's the attitude that's really making the difference on this team this year. Lofa volunteering for special teams. Our backups stepping up big when needed. And nobody letting up, even in garbage time.
I hazard to think about if the "real" Matt Hasselbeck had made the trip to Jacksonville, and if Josh Brown's game winner doesn't doink off the upright, we're that close to being undefeated.
Now we gotta put some serious milage between us and the rest of the NFC West, and separate ourselves from being painted with the same brush as "the worst division in football".
all for re-signing Alexander as quickly as possible
Concur.
You sorta named your son after SA? Very nice, and frankly pretty sneaky. Hope your wife doesn't check in on this, or you are in trouble!
I'm happy you are being positively influenced, I know you were disgusted with sports for a bit. I'd recommend not eating your hat though, MVP or no, although I appreciate the bold statement.
Joey G plays for Tampa now, no longer with the 'Girls, so no Tru vs. Joey this year, 'cept maybe in the playoffs! I think Joey was hurt (imagine that) last year when they played.
Lets see, we rightfully should of won against Dallas last year, they are better this year...but so are we...I honestly think this is the game of the week next week...if we contain Julius Jones, we will break them in half...
Anyways, I rather bathe in this victory for a couple days...Shaun Alexander is amazing...for a couple years it was always made out as if Shaun had great games on National TV simply because he wanted the spotlight...im starting believe he does to get the TEAM spotlight...you didn't hear him go off about sitting out the 4th quarter despite having a great chance at getting the franchise record...
Instead he was seen rooting on the sidelines for Momo---hopefully a Shaun Alexander in training...go nuts...
Also, as I put on the Flooby thing...look at what Dunta Robinson said about him (remember this is their first meeting, and of course the first meeting between both teams)
"He's one of the top running backs in the league. I thought last time when I played against LaDainian Tomlinson, I thought he was the best. But not now. Alexander is a big, fast running back." ...
Thats interesting...
Nonstatistically, I honestly think we have the best offense in the NFL, beating out the Colts and Rams...maybe not as much in the thought of firepower and being high octane...but we are easily the most balanced team out there...I think Hass is the best QB in the WHOLE NFL under the category for 'balance'...they just blend well together
Heres hoping this Seattle team doesn't fall under the curse of attachment...I want Shaun locked up...just not long enough where hes a good 35 years old...
Right now, we are a super bowl lurker...but if we beat the Cowboys, the team I picked to win their division...we're a super bowl THREAT...
Sorry for rambling...Citizen K's post got me hyper
The first guy to run over and congratulate Leonard Weaver after is monster run, complete with 'Instant Classic' stiff-arm was none other than Shaun Alexander.
I gotta be honest. In the off season I was thinking this was a no win situation and we were looking at a long hold out, or a disgruntled running back.
However, he's shown me MORE than enough to believe that he REALLY wants to be here.
Not only is he running, catching and blocking better than I've ever seen before (granted, only 2-3 games a year) but he seems to be emerging as a locker room and sidelines leader as well.
Not to mention that sexy smile that seems to have caught ADP's eye!!!
Cant say a single bad thing about Alexander right now. He's on the verge of one of the most monster seasons a RB has ever had. Lets hear it for 2000 yards and 30 TDs!
