Slipping the Clutch

In the wake of yesterday's win, I just wanted to repost this topic from September 16, and chalk it up as ANOTHER QUESTION ANSWERED by this team.

GO SEAHAWKS!!!

I read a question on one of the other forums the other day, but it is lingering in my primative cranium.

We all are very aware of how the defense has come up with some clutch plays to win games last year, ala Michael Boulware. (But then again, they also lost games in the opposite manner). But what about the offense? Historically, the offense usually performs better in general than the defense, but that's not what I'm talking about.

When is the last time the offense came up with great, game winning play in the clutch?

  1. Good question Bluefoot, not sure I can remember when they ever once have.

  2. Bluefoot - this is EXACTLY the post I was referring to on Sando's blog  (Post Games Thoughts thread, 14th comment)

Many people may look at this as the Defense bailing us out again, via the Babineaux interception, but the truth is that if the Offense doesn't drive the length of the field and score a TD, something they hadn't been able to do ALL GAME, then the interception is just a stat-padder and a prelude to a two-week saga of "what might have been".

  4. To be a bit fair to the offense, they should have had game-winning plays/drives against Washington this year, as well as against the Cowboys last year. The fact that they gave those leads away shouldn't be taken as an indictment of the offense as a whole.

  6. Remember, guys, that this was originally written when we were having no success in the 2nd half. The indictment has been indefinitely suspended. That is the whole point.

  8. are we speaking viking now?

I just no that we know longer have to worry about this teams heart..im officially convinced...

i really hope nothing happens during the bye week to screw this up...this has to be the best game ever for this team, going into a bye week...man 2 weeks of misery from that game would suck...but instead, two weeks of a miracle

and to think i was gonna go to sleep instead...i toughed it out (with some of you guys help...and Alba's taunts...i was dead tired)...man did it pay off...i did go to bed once, but couldnt go to sleep...unbelievable...still cant believe it

  10. You know, even though it was the Defense that sealed the deal, the offense did make the big drive to tie game up, and in a way, it was sort of the clutch offensive drive we have been looking for. In a way Hass and Co. finally did put together a clutch drive at the end when it mattered.
