This Is JACKED

from Sando's site:

The Seattle Seahawks' leading receiver has been advised to undergo knee surgery after a prominent orthopedist detected a torn lateral meniscus in addition to the previously diagnosed bone bruise, sources said Friday.
Jackson received the news Friday from Dr. John Uribe, a Miami-based orthopedist who has operated on numerous professional athletes. Jackson had sought a second opinion from Uribe as a precaution after an initial diagnosis suggested no damage beyond the bruised bone.
Jackson experienced pain and swelling in the knee following a victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 25. It was not immediately known when Jackson suffered the torn meniscus. The lateral meniscus consists of cartilage on the outer side of the knee.
Surgery was tentatively scheduled for Wednesday. If Jackson goes through with the operation, he could need at least four weeks to recover. Jackson played with the injury Sunday and caught seven passes for 55 yards and one touchdown.
Jackson, 26, remained in Florida on Friday and will not travel with the Seahawks to St. Louis for their game against the Rams on Sunday.
The team practiced Friday and planned to depart for St. Louis on Saturday. Jackson ranks third in the NFL with 29 receptions.

Well...this sucks more then the original, Rams game only injury...what the hell is with our luck...if we have an injury, its always a major one...but 4 weeks isnt as bad as 16, so im not gonna whine anymore...Engram is already on the bubble to miss next week's game...so we're in some trouble now...our young guys need to step up here...and so much for Hass being an MVP candidate

  2. That really is Jacked. I was hoping that at least we would have D-jack, but now we're down both starters. However, I don't think this means we can't win. We will just have to lean even more heavily on Shaun and the O-Line to get the job done. The receivers that we still have are good enough to make the plays needed to move the chains. I'm interested to see what Peter Warrick can do when given a shot. Shaun seems to run well against the Rams and they have been giving up like 90+ yards a game last I heard. If we can utilize the run to setup reasonable third down situations and run some clock to keep Bulger off the field I think we can pull this one off. The defense will need to step up big time for a change. This would be a huge boost if we can pull this one off. Time to make up for last weeks DOINK guys….

  3. Wow, that is not good news! I was bummed enough that he was going to miss the Rams game. These injuries make me even more angry with K-Rob. If that guy lived up to HALF of his potential, this wouldn't be nearly as serious. I hate the thought of our two WRs having a combined 5 games played in a Hawks uniform!

Let's hope we can control the ball on the ground, use JJ and his size in a similar manner that the Giants used Burress, and maybe get Warrick free deep. PLEASE LET US PLAY SOME PASS DEFENSE!

  4. UPDATE from same place:

This is a tough blow for the team in the short term. The timing is somewhat fortunate, however, because the recovery period encompasses the bye week, which is Oct. 30. If Jackson were to undergo the surgery this coming Wednesday, he could conceivably return in time for the Nov. 13 game against the Rams at Qwest Field. Under that scenario, he would miss games against St. Louis (Sunday), Houston (Oct. 16), Dallas (Oct. 23) and Arizona (Nov. 6). I have heard of these injuries taking 4-6 weeks as a general rule. The six-week window would have Jackson also missing games against St. Louis (Nov. 13) and San Francisco (Nov. 20). Under that scenario, which I pose only as a hypothetical, he would return for the Nov. 27 game against the NY Giants.

  5. I was about to make the point about the bye week, until I saw that Mike Sando already had.

Oh well, time to see what all these "depth" guys can do for us now.

And if the "young" defense ever had a reason to "gel" overnight, this would be it.

  6. Remember that the Rams corners are among the worst in the league. It doesn't take a top flight receiver to get open. Beleive me, we are going to be fine. The massacre that is coming Sunday will not be stopped because a couple of guys are down.

I can see Shaun in their meetings right now-- just telling the coaches to give him the ball, he'll take care of it. This will be Shaun's best game so fr this season.

  7. On another note, wide receiver Isaac Bruce (turf toe) is doubtful and likely will be sidelined for a second straight week.

Oh, that, and the Martz is expected to be on the sidelines Sunday. His rediculous play calling will word to our advantage.

    THE RAMS SUCK.

    Don't lost sight of that.

  8. "Martz is expected to be on the sidelines Sunday. " Best point, other than..."THE RAMS SUCK. " Nice post Blue.
