  1. I would guess that many of the UFA's will get another one year deal. Hope Shaun and Hutch are signed of course. I would've sworn Joe J got a multi-year deal.

Does anybody think any of the RFA's will have tenders from other teams? I think they'll extend Josh Brown, Wallace, and Rocky. I doubt Hannam or Hunter will have any offers, and Babs is on the fence, unless he keeps doing what he do, then they'll extend him too. I'm not sold on Mo, but I doubt he'd get any RFA offers anyway. Atl could use him if Dunn retired, but that's about all I can think of right now.

  2. Joe J. signed for one year, but I think we'll offer him a 2 or 3-year deal after this season.

Good question on the RFA's. I have a feeling Bernard and Brown will get a little interest. Remember, Rocky almost went to the Texans last off-season.

Hutch will be franchised no matter what, but I would like to see a new long-term deal get hammered out.

And we better keep #37 in the fold as well...

  4. Of course, MoMo becomes a lot more important should Shaun scamper off to greener pastures.

  5. There's going to be lots of FA RBs again this year, and the draft class looks pretty good as well. If Shaun doesn't get signed, I think we get an FA. Not sure which one... I don't like any better than Shaun, maybe Edge, but I'd rather just have Shaun, for continuity, and the fact that I already have that jersey.

  6. I like the list you put together Alba, but I think I'd move Mo-Mo up to the "Right Price" section. He does a great job when Shaun has to be on the sideline (for whatever reason). I might also sign Mack no matter what, if for no other reason than the legacy. He's a guy that will never make the HOF, and may not even make the Ring of Honor, but has been vital to any success the Hawks have had over the past few years. I might actually move Babs and Marquand down a section as well, don't want to pay too much for backups. Apparently I lied and I don't like your list at all.

  7. It's funny, JoSCh, after I put this list together, I started thinking of the off season, where Lucas, Chike, Huff, etc. would have been in the first group, but we're doing fine (if not better) without them.

As much as I'm in man-love with JJ and Babs and Manuel with the way they've performed, the one thing Mr. Ruskell has taught us, is that unless you're outstanding (Hutch, Shaun, Josh Brown?) then you're replaceable.

Seneca is on the "must sign" list for continuity sake. Brown and Rouen are on there for consistency in our kicking game, so we can concentrate on improving the RETURN and COVERAGE portions of special teams.

Mack's in the Right Price section, ala Chad Brown, where I'd LOVE to see him retire a Seahawk, but with the way Leonard Weaver has looked, I"m not willing the mortgage the farm to keep him.

MoMo's on the "have a nice life" list, again while I'd love to keep him, because of how well he's doing when put in, he's bound to get better offers from other teams, ala Ken Lucas.

  9. I still say the odds of Shaun being here next season are a little less than 50/50, he's a stat horse but as far as being an all-around contributor to the team, he still doesn't catch consistantly enough for this offense. And while his blocking has improved, he's still not a fearless blocker.

  10. It appears that the list already includes some notion of the "right price" before that section was included. I doubt we'll give a 10M signing bonus to Brown while that is not unreasonable to expect for Hutch. Hutch is a no-brainer to be franchised if not signed first. What's the average of the top five guards anyway?...couple hundred bucks a year (hyperbole)? After that, I don't see anything that can't be replaced, including Shaun Alexander. Solid running backs come a dime for a dozen. They can step in and start right out of college and overpaying for SA would be a grievous mistake in my book (at a reasonable price he'd be a great sign, but they must not overpay, crippling the financial condition of the team going forward).

Rouen is a must sign? I must disagree here. He'd be a nice player to have at a reasonable price, but... I, too, am pretty high on Babs and Manuel, but they aren't "sign at all cost" players in my book. Same goes for JJ. Love to have him back, but if he gets a big offer from another team good riddance. I'm guessing that you're assuming Wallace won't get a big offer from another team, which is probably a safe assumption. I'd still include him in "for the right price". Can't be spending too much on backups. Everything else looks pretty good. I would move Morris up a level. He's above average as a backup. If you can get him for a good price, I say do it. On the other hand, I sure do like that Weaver kid...

Overall, Seahawks fans have to like the team's position heading into the offseason. The only must-sign player, IMO, is Hutch and he'll be franchised. Should be a good 2006, too.

  11. Sorry Pavillion, but when I saw this statement: I don't like your list at all , I just naturally assumed the post was from JoSCh!!

  12. No problem, I was joking, and it was amusing that you missed it. Here's hoping that the players we want get signed now rather than after the season.

  13. I agree with Alba on his list except:

Mo Morris to the Right Price
Rocky B to the must return

limited in depth at DLine as it is...with Moore and Woodard gone...he is by far the best backup we have

  14. Just my opinion of course, but if it were up to me these would be my priorities.
Unrestricted: Shaun Alexander Steve Hutchinson Mack Strong (unless e wants to retire) Joe Jurevicius Joe Tafoya Marquand Manuel
Restricted: Rocky Bernard Josh Brown Jordan Babineaux Wayne Hunter
    Seneca Wallace
The rest can either find homes elsewhere or are much lower priorites.

  15. I don't see Wayne Hunter as a big need. Locklear seems to refuse to relinquish the starting job to Womack. That leaves Womack replacing Gray next year, with Spencer replacing Tobeck. That could be a hell of a line.

Alexander and Hutch, not doubt top priorities.

Mack can stay as long as he wants, but if he retires, I'll toast to him, and be happy to have Leonard Weaver back.

We could buy 10 Tafoyas on the black market. Easily replaceable.

Keep Rocky. Keep Brown. Keep Babs. Keep Wallace.

Joey J could be a toss up. Love the guy, but does he bring much that Urban couldn't? 'sept the fact Urban is much faster?

  16. "I just naturally assumed the post was from JoSCh " Skim-tastic! Thanks for the backup Paulie!

"I started thinking of the off season, where Lucas, Chike, Huff, etc. would have been in the first group" Great point alba, in Ruskell we trust. Although I do miss Kenny L...

"Joey J could be a toss up. Love the guy, but does he bring much that Urban couldn't? 'sept the fact Urban is much faster? " You risk angering the monkey, you know he has a man-crush on him. I think they keep him, and I think he'll come pretty cheap, I dunno, something like Bannister money?!? (cut him, cut him like a sandwich!)

If Womack does indeed replace Gray, we'll need somebody to be the backup tackle... Wayne Hunter is it, I would think.

Shaun Alexander will be the best FA RB, and won't require as much $$ as Edge or Westbrook... that be my opinion. We won't have a shot at a premier college RB, what with the 32nd pick and all... c'mon.
