The Plot Thickens...

You've heard all the conspiracy theories between the NFL and the Seahawks. Thats why it seems too perfect of a time, to see this crap surfacing:

LINK

MINOR THING:

-- The NFL has reached a new six-year contract with its officials, who five years ago were locked out for part of the 2001 preseason and the first week of the regular season when they failed to come to an agreement. The dispute was settled before the second week, which was postponed by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
-------------------------------------

Job well done, refs. Here is your reward for taking the heat...and the Seahawk's trophy...

MAJOR THING:

-- The league is looking at the possibility of wiring players other than quarterbacks so that there will be fewer false starts by visitors in noisy stadiums. "Don't get me wrong," Goodell said. "I love the 12th man. But keeping the game moving without so many penalties is also very important."
-------------------------------------

Anyone see a MAJOR problem brewing? This guy is talking about putting headsets in other player helmets so they can hear. WTF? NFL will go down the drain in the unlikelyhood that this happens. What good are the fans if they can't play a part and feel like part of the team? Great contradiction, too. Saying you want the noise drowned out is like slapping fans in the face. Then you say you like us? HA! Anyone agree or disagree? Oh, and my preview for the season should be up by Saturday.

  1. WHY NOT JUST SAY EVERYONE HAS TO SIT DOWN AND BE QUIET. THE NOISE IS APART OF THE GAME IF PLAYERS CAN'T HEAR EACH OTHER DO TO CROWD NOISE THATS GOOD HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE AND HAVING GREAT FANS. IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE IT SIT DOWN. WHATS WRONG WITH HIS FIRST YEAR ON THE JOB AND HE'S ALREADY TRYING TO SCREW THINGS UP.

  2. Bring in the tennis crowd rules, thats why i say. I cant wait for us to have the NFL stadium announcers saying "Quiet please" between plays...

Why does the league hate us so much???

  3. This is unbeleivable.

Don't take the crowd effect out of the game. It's all part of it. It's tradition. It's the NFL, not Sunday morning at the public library.

  4. ADP, this deserves a bigger stage. Would you mind if I echo your sentiments on the AOL fanhouse? You will get full credit and linkage for the take.

  5. Of course Bloof, im just trying to stick to this site more, and although ive taken up a ton of space lately, at least its being updated frequently.

I highly doubt this would pass, as owners would have to agree, and you'd have to think Seattle, Kansas City, Denver, Green Bay, and all of those franchises would have a problem with it.

Still though, its the thought that counts.

  6. I must ask though, where was all this 'keeping penalties down' crap during the SB?

Honestly, its still hard to believe the NFL has it in for us, but if it was something you can comprehend, there is certainly evidence out there. Funny the timing of this...

  7. This basically defeats the purpose of home field advantage. This is just stupid, plain and simple. What makes being a football fan so great is the fact that you KNOW you can make a difference. You know you can disrupt the other offense. But, if you make it so the signals come in right into the helmet, then you take that away.

It amazes me how the NFL continues to allienate its fans (putting games on NFL Network, rising ticket prices, ect.) Honestly, they might as well institute a strict suit and tie dress code for fans at this point.

  8. This wasn't Goodall's idea, they were talking about this before Tags retired. That being said, it's still a stupid rule, and while I don't believe it's a conspiracy against the Seahawks, it certainly does greatly affect our team.

I can't believe that with all this low frequency radio communication going on, nobody has illegally tapped into it to steal plays and signal calls.

What's to stop a D-End from going to Radio Shack and installing a mini receiver in his helmet so he too can clearly hear the snap count?

If the NFL wanted to do something to help the players, they would have outlawed Astroturf 10 years ago, instead of watching player after player blowing out knees due to the stuff. Oh yea, who was the first team to install the new Field Turf that's all the rage in all the new stadiums now??

And forget the Tennis/Gold crowd noise analogy. Pretty soon the games will be played in studios instead of stadiums, with the only fans watching on the pay-per-view telecasts.

You wanna use technology Goodall? How about installing a chip in the football and a magnetic field at the goal line, so you KNOW for certain that Big Ben did NOT break the plane until after he was down?

Or how about replacing those 9-inch peepshow sideline replay monitors with a 55" plasma with high def feed? My kids watch cartoons on a bigger and better screen in the backseat of my van for crissakes!

  10. What is wrong with that haternation link Bloof? It was pro Seahawk, not to mention funny. Did you read the bottom disclaimer?

  11. JoSCh - did you really just agree with me??!!

And I think the "pissant" comment was directed at Goodall and not the blogger.

  12. You guys agree?!?!?!

    Pissants.

  13. Agree you're a pissant cobag.

  14. What a stupid idea to wire all the players. Would they prefer to play in a quiet warehouse where there is no noise or weather conditions to distract them?

Bastards - The game is for the fans.

  15. This has nothing to do with wiring but i hate the fact that teams are gettin stadiums with roofs that open and close. This isn't baseball its football the weather should be a factor. Either get a open stadium or a dome screw the roof thing.
