In what appears to be a cost cutting move, the Baltimore Ravens have cut Peter Boulware brother of Michael Boulware.
According to Ravens.com, "The Ravens terminated the contract of Peter Boulware Wednesday, parting ways with the team’s sack king who missed 17 games due to injury over the last two seasons.
At an impromptus press conference late Wednesday afternoon, Billick praised Boulware’s service to the Ravens and the city of Baltimore, and said the decision had to do with finances, not concerns about the linebacker’s health."
I know that some will ask, why not just keep Brown if you want an often injured LB? I understand that argument, I do, I really don't know if he would stay healthy or not, but we need a pass rusher darnit!
ReplyDeletewell, the seahawks DID want to keep brown, FOR THE RIGHT PRICE. (which was about 1 million dollars.) since brown signed with the pats, boulware might represent just about the same thing. a situational pass rush guy that can provide leadership and spark.
ReplyDeletethere will be a market for him. the thing that automatically puts us in the running is (surprise) michael boulware, his brother.
it's conceivable that he might take a one year deal for 1 million, get a chance to play with his brother, prove he's over the injuries and then look for a big payday. sounds possible, and worth the hawks looking into it, anyway.
My guess is that it will be KRob cut which should save around 1.25 along with Taylor and maybe one or two surprises.
ReplyDeletewell, if we HAVE to cut koren, then (sniff) i guess that's something (shedding tiny tear) we should all be ready to accept.
ReplyDeleteand if you'll excuse me, it's time for my oh-Lord-please-let-the-seahawks-finally-cut-koren-robinson-already prayer time (every waking half-hour).
Agreed! Been wanting that guy cut for a while, million dollar body ten cent brain.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't a big fan of having the Hasslebeck brothers on the team, but this is a vaginal-duo that definitely makes sense!

ReplyDeleterumors are circling that we are a possible destination for him...
"Billick emphasized that Boulware is healthy now and predicted that he would make an impact with another team.
Potential destinations for Boulware because of his connections may include: Cincinnati (Marvin Lewis), Jacksonville (Jack Del Rio), San Francisco (Mike Nolan) or Seattle, where younger brother, Michael Boulware, plays strong safety."
nice...
Pittsburg is another if the price were right,But he would bring us spark.Plus he's about 4 years younger then Brown is so that isn't an argument. He can get after the passer plus with his experience he can play linebacker first and second down,I don't think his coverage skills are that bad.One thing that would have been nice is if we were to bring in a coverage strong safety so M Boulware can play Nickel/Dime linebacker where he thrived for most of last year.It would make us that much stronger.

Seems like he may be a bit expensive for us, unless he really wants to play with his brother and his buddy Sharper.
Does anyone know how "incentives" are dealt with in regard to the cap? Are they deferred to the next years cap?
Vaginal duo? I am not exactly sure how I feel about that, but the term certainly gets yer attention.
By the by, i'll toot my own little horn on this one. I was one of the first to say that we should go for him, and I'll continue to say it. i think if the cap room is there, we'd be getting a bargain.

i'm not ready to fully endorse the deal just yet. first, the seahawks really need to check out his medical status. second, is determining how much they are willing to spend.
ReplyDeleteif he's got the green light from the doctors, then i would be in favor of starting negotiations with him. but i definitely wouldn't be in favor of spending more than $2 million this year on a situational player. and that's what he turned down from the ravens, so it still may be a bit of a reach for us to think of him here.
and i bet our new gm is still thinking pretty frugally as well.
Hey PP, can I toot mine too?
ReplyDeleteEven better I picked him up for my second season on my Madden game.

Toot away Vin!

I'll attest to Vinny's "toot" request. He was speculating about this way back when on the ST site.
ReplyDeleteWe even came up with great nicknames for the "vaginal duo" at that time...B-Ware (Michael) and Better B-Ware (Peter)!
and SJoshC - if Vaginal Duo makes you queezy, how about these:
Womb Wonders
Placenta Pals
Brothers in Sperm
Tubal Twosome
Fraternal Philopeans
Pubic Partners
OK, I gotta stop now, but I COULD keep on going!!!!
i bet their dad is named gene poole.
ReplyDeleteVinny, if you like games, the new Xbox 360 is going to be revealed tonight on MTV (Thursday)...9:30ET
ReplyDeleteOn Sportscenter, John Clayton just stated that 8 teams are going after Boulware, and the two specific ones he mentioned were the Browns and Seahawks.
ReplyDeletei honestly thought the Browns would get him before he was officially released...
ReplyDeletefrom what i hear, the Browns are the most likely destination...
we know we are interested, we know we are one of the teams who could acquire him, we know his brother and friend is here...but what we dont know is, is the FO interested?
ok it appears that they are...
ReplyDeletei trust the FO enough now to not worry about our cap situation...so sign whatever it takes...
one thing i want to point out...
Michael Boulware could be the greatest 2nd round pick in Seahawk history...hes CLUTCH---if he sways his brother too...man...hes becoming a heavy fan favorite
Yeah, I think Micheal got ripped off in teh voting for Rookie Of the Year...because he was a Seahawk or on defense?
