Comments From the Coach

Although I wasn't able to hear the whole thing, there were some interesting comments that came out of an interview on KJR radio with Mike Holmgren.
Here are some of the more interesting things I got out of the interview.

Holmgren said that KRob is trying very hard and that people need to give him a break and that he'll have to earn his spot this season. In fact, every receiver other than Darrell Jackson will have to fight it out for a spot. Said that Koren missing camp the other day was due to a counseling session, which is a required part of his rehab. He did acknowledge that KRob really has one last chance to "get it", and that he was afraid to cut Koren, in the fear that Koren's life would spin out of control.

On Alexander, he said that he believes that when the dust settles Shaun will be in camp and will be the starter this year for the Hawks. If not, he said that he will start Morris and has full faith in him.

When asked about the pass rush, Holmgren said that they are still looking for a guy to pick up that could help apply pressure from the edge. Said he felt better about the linebackers than at any time since he's been here. That they were the fastest group of LBers he has worked with. Really talked up Tatupu, saying that "Tatupu is a special player". Mike said, That he believe's that Tatupu will be starting THIS year.

Holmgren repeated his earlier statements that, they will be looking for a veteran QB and will sign one if he can come in and help win games. Otherwise they'll go with Wallace and Green.

He also mentioned the work that Tubbs has put in so far this offseason and that he is looking for big things from him. Also mentioned again Jerramy Stevens and the effort he has put forth so far. Seems like Holmgren believes that Stevens has finally "got it".

  4. It bugs me that djac is being given the green light and everyone else is fighting for their job. None of those receivers should be safe.

  5. I know that she's considered an insider but no one's infallible and certainly she doesn't know for certain. I'll belive it when I see it Vin.

  7. By the way Winni, I couldn't agree more. No one's job should be safe.

  8. This was in a followup message from Mary on the K-Rob subject:

but most of you are assuming some facts that just aren't there

Putting this together with her initial statement, which was:

Koren Robinson will not be playing for the Seahawks next season

it leads me to believe that he failed a piss-test.

She didn't say he'd be cut or is being traded, just that he wouldn't be playing for us next season.

And Monkey, ALMOST no one is infallible...you forgot to include the Pope!

  9. Good point about DJak. He makes over 4 mil a year, and for that, he should be catching everything thrown his way, with his feet if he has to. Why is he safe? Just because he's our #1 receiver. Methinks he'd be a #2 on any other team and wouldn't be getting #1 money. Not against the guy, but for that money......

  10. It comes down to dollars and cents,we wouldn't and shouldn't sit our leading reciever.Fans are to quik to jump off the band wagon when a player misses one of these camps.Jackson drops some balls, but he's one of the driving forces of our offence. If you jump on him for dropping some passes he's productive, you can say that Hass threw to many interceptions last year if you want to throw stones. There could be a good reason for him missing camp, private reasons he don't want the media to get a hold of.These camp are volintary remember,I am willing to bet he will be at camp in june.

  11. OK, I went and read the original comments from "Mary Smith" and they really say nothing for certain. Sort of reminds me of the way so called psychics and fortune tellers operate. Not saying that this is the case here, just that all she said was that as of Friday KRob won't be playing with the Seahawks next season and that we're all assuming things that aren't true. Whatever the heck any of that means. Was she talking about something that happened last friday, or that next friday he will no longer be with the team? She also said that she didn't know when the news would break. SOMEONE needs to get more clarification from this person! Anyone know how?

  12. We all know he'll be there in June, the point is, the passing game is 98% timing, and I think that every rep and every day of looking at film together helps that timing and bond between QB and WR. Just like Manning and Harrison, and Cullpepper and Moss(look for both their numbers to drop off this season).

I agree that he may have something going on that we don't know about, and that's fine, but if you're tight lipped on something like this, and your' QB isn't in the loop or is still irritataed for whatever reason. I think we as fans have a right to wonder..."What the hell....?"

At least with Jackson we knew what was what with him, and his missed meetings and workouts. I just don't know what to think, do we go by Matt or Mike?

  13. Sorry monkey you posted while i was composing.....to answer your' question, she's not answering e-mails so I'm thinking that's all we'll get out of her till the news actually breaks, but I put a lot of faith in her insight. So I'd say chances are about 95% that it's a done deal.

  14. And the reason we give Robinson more hell then Jackson is production he don't miss time when we need him.Jackson has always been an overachiever and Robinson has always been an underachiever. So get off his case a little guys he's one of our go to guys.

Off this topic but Urban is finally getting in the mix,I was pump to see that he can practice again.I would like to see him become a big part of our offence.

Two tons a Mili should be at least in the weight room,
    or weight watchers.

  15. just reading this stuff about robinson "not playing wtih the team this year as of friday". so here's a few questions for you all:

    1. who is this mary?
    2. did this information hit before or after holmie's radio address? (claiming that robinson had this season to get it right.)
    3. if this is true then why is there no reports anywhere in the press?

so i'm basically not believing in anything until i hear anything solid.

  16. Mary is an "insider". See has predicted (divulged) information before it has hit the press. Apparently she works for the Hawwks FO in some capacity. "Linc" is her alias.
