The Onterrio Scenario

While still one of the funniest stories in quite awhile, this Onterrio Smith thing just may be the catalyst to break the log-jam in the free agent running back arena.

The problem has always been that teams that needed running backs had high draft picks, and got their guys last month, and teams that had the money to pay SA or EJ or TH didn't really need a feature running back.

One of those teams with money is the Minnesota Vikings.

Even if this Whizzinator thing doesn't result in a suspention, it's got to get the Vikings organization twitchy about what their RB is up to, and as a former violator, one more positive test and he's out for a year. And you KNOW the league is going to be testing him REALLY SOON NOW and keeping a really close eye on what exactly is sticking out of his shorts!

So, just like those little tile games, if the Vikings make a deal for either Alexander or James, there will be an open space on the Colts or Seahawks, which would be a perfect landing spot for Travis Henry.

I'd still like to see SA in a Seahawks uniform having a breakout year again in 2005, but if this alleviates a potential hold out situation, or year long distraction, then I say THANK YOU MR. SMITH AND YOUR ORIGINAL WHIZZENATOR*!

  1. In theory, that's a good thought, but I think that Minnesota is pretty confident in their other runningbacks, like that Mewelde Moore cat.

  2. One thing I don't like from Henry is that he brings a
worse attitude then Alexander would,Alexander hold out because he don't have a contract,Henry is the one not honering his.I would rather keep Alexander then
send him to the Vikings, they're a team we may have to face a lot in years to come and I'd rather have Alexander on our side.I think we should do all we can to keep Alexander a Hawk, you know what they say best thing for a defence is a good running game.

  3. Actually guys, living here in Fargo I hear all the good Vikes news (like it or not, and it's NOT) but Tice has made a very VERY big deal out of saying that he is going to settle on one RB and one only to give the vast majority of carries to this season because he got so much crap for his RB by commision thing last couple seasons. Bennet is already claiming to have injury concerns (again) that guy is always hurt, Smith met the Original Whizzinator, and Moore got his shot last year and did well at times but isn't really being looked at as the full time answer at all. From everything I am hearing Tice was planning on trying to use Smith for the mjority of carries so long as he blocked, now Tice is probably Whizzed off. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Vikes would be amenable to some kind of a trade! They keep saying they are serious about using a single back and now they probably don't have one they trust. Bennet would be the obvious choice but he's always hurt, so...
