Cowboys sign RB Thomas to one-year deal

For those who were thinking that free agent running back Anthony Thomas, could be the solution to the potential holdout with Shaun Alexander well...you may want to come up with a new plan.

According to the Seattle P-I today, "Free agent running back Anthony Thomas agreed to a one-year deal Monday with the Dallas Cowboys."

The list of possible replacements for Alexander is thinning by the moment and at present our backup running backs have not exactly been given ringing endorsements by the front office.
Worse, Alexander has said repeatedly that he is looking to sign a long term deal and the front office has said repeatedly that it has no interest in giving him one.
This situation may get a whole lot worse before it gets better, if it gets better at all.

  1. I'd still like to have seen Henry come in here.....but it looks like it'll be S.A. for another season...which isn't all that bad....at least he'd still be giving it his best shot, just as with last season.

I'ts a win win for the Hawks at this point...the worst he can do is hold out, and that just means more reps for his backups. So heck yeah! Sit out camp Shaun...then we can get a better look you're possible replacement.

(actually I hope he shows for camp, the team's just better when they workout as a unit. I was one of Jones' biggest critics for skipping camp)

  4. Trivia time, A-Train backed up Thomas Jones, and now backs up Julius Jones, has any other RB ever been the backup to brothers?

I don't know, but I do know that that has to be a blow on a guys confidence. Poor A-Train. At least he can console himself with the fact that he is not Willie Green(bud).

  6. The biggest target for me (if we don't keep Shaun) is Westbrook. He's only being offered a 1 yr 1.43 million dollar tender. He's a restricted free agent, so we wouldn't get him for free, but if Shaun is gone, I say we go for Westbrook. ( I considered "go for westBROKE", but thought better of it.)
