Another Game In The Bucket: Seahawks lose to Vikings 23-21

Ugh, I hate losing. At least it was meaningless.

But we gained something - one heckuva fullback prospect. Leonard Weaver is the most agile 250 lb. back I have ever seen, and he still has the power of Craig 'Ironhead' Heyward. I can see Holmgren finding downs to put him in play this season.

Josh Scobey was impressive. But then again, how long has it been since we've seen a kick return anywhere near the 50 yard line? But he definitely has what the Seahawks have been missing, even though when he was on the sideline, he was always calling Grant Wistrom "Shaggy".

Joe Tafoya looked good against the Viking's second string tackle. Kelly Herndon played very well, and showed excellent hands on his opening drive interception.

Who were the goats? John Howell committed a critical pass interference infraction. Omare Lowe could have grabbed the backup spot, but when he got smoked for 48 yards on the play that put the Vikes in winning field goal range, It made me wonder if he was taking toast lessons from Terreal Bierria. (BTW: Good luck, Terreal, and godspeed. I hope your family is OK). Andy King would have served the team better as the janitor.

Overall, I was impressed with the first unit defense. There were hitting harder than I remember them hitting in years. They are really playing the run well as a unit, and winning the battle on the line of srcimmage.

One of the things I noticed, and it was a problem last season: Last year, the linebackers and safeties completely telegraphed the blitz. You always knew when they were coming, they were on the line of scrimmage, waiting, looking like they were in line at the supermarket. They always got picked up.

For whatever reason, their timing and approach is MUCH better. Linebackers were surprising the OL and coming in free and clear, because they were no longer obvious. Even Lofa Tatupu was getting good pressure, even though he is not known for his pass rush skills.

Well, tomorrow morning are the final cuts - Who do you think is gone?

  1. hmm everyone that is expected to be cut, prolly will be

ill go over some closer battles:

WR...Hackett is in, Pathon and Urban are gone (unless Pathon's contract prevents him from getting cut)

    S...Bierria, Howell are gone

LB...i think both Kaz, and White will make it, believe it or not...i truly think they are going to keep one more LB then the general thought

Mohr will be heading to Europe, along with either or both Harden and Tucker (why couldn't they send Rosegreen? i really liked him)

now for the one i think is the closest...the Running Backs position

I think Weeks heads to the practice squad...and Jackson gets cut...im torn between Weeks and Carter...i liked Weeks more but I dont think he moved up the depth chart...that said,

WEAVER IS A BEAST...i love this guy, seriously...one sexy beast...Barry Sanders in Mack Strong's body is a scary thought (though i may be exagerrating the Barry Sanders comment...and i dont wanna argue but I truly think Sanders is the greatest RB in history, over Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith)

I think the offensive PI needs to be cancelled...dumb penalty...teams only get called for it once or twice a season at best, and we've gotten called for it 5 times in the preseason...funny how we commit the PI no matter what side of the ball we're on...but yeh...we still could of won that game...

    Blue-

...you like Weaver now...wait until he gets some experience!...in a few years he could be at the top of the FB chain...and behind our FIRST TEAM OLINE??!?!?!? scary thought
