It seems that our old friend "collarbone" may be headed to I.R. with another busted coat hanger.
From Mike Sando's blog:
I'm slammed so this will be quick ... Alex Bannister out at least eight weeks with cracked clavicle; could be IR candidate;
The good news is that Pork Chop is ahead of schedule.
Does this spell the beginning of an Urban Renewal for the Seahawks??!!
Not to be a jerk but...good! I would much rather have Urban in here who can catch some passes. Bannister has done nothing zero zilch nada, and I won't miss him at all. Never should have signed him to that stupid contract in the first place.
ReplyDeleteWhat's a million dollars between friends anyway, right?
ReplyDeleteThe question is, will they bring back Jerheme or will they look for more defensive depth.
My guess is that Ruskell will take a "best player available" approach, even though Holmy is on record as saying he'd like to get JU back on the team.
Who knows, we may soon be once again leading the league in variations on the name Jeremy!

two points:
ReplyDelete1. our special teams have turned into the kaz and babineaux show, and all bannister has done is commit a costly holding penalty and drop a very catchable pass on third down when we really needed to sustain a drive. even without the collarbone, i question him being on the team at all.
2. without collarbone, we only have our starting trio of receivers plus hackett and warrick. if those guys aren't ready yet, then adding urban would make sense, given that he's healthy and knows the offense.
bottom line, it would be prudent to add urban quickly if that's really where things are at. that way he can get some reps in at the #4 spot before this upcoming game.
but if nothing happens before thursday, then my thought is that we won't be seeing urban again. if there ever was an opportunity for him to return to the seahawks, this is probably it.
"My guess is that Ruskell will take a "best player available" approach "
ReplyDeleteThis is the correct answer. Is Urban BPA? Very well could be right now, but I'd be willing to bet they bring in D players before they commit. Also, carrying "only" 5 WRs isn't that odd, most teams only carry 5.
So we have to assume that Bannister is going to IR, cuz how can he not, will he be on the team next year?

If I'm not mistaken, isn't your immortalized quote "if he gets hurt again, cut him like a sandwich" in reference to our dear friend "collarbone"? IR is the place to go, since it won't cost us nothing, but his future is in serious jeopardy.

Let's hope this is the end of the road for AB. Not to be a hard ass but he's a glorified mascot, and we already have one named Kaz. I'm a bit old school but where I come from, if you're listed as a receiver, you need to occasionally catch the ball.
ReplyDeleteIf some idiots hadn't vote him to the Pro Bowl a couple years back he would have been cut by now. His claim to fame is being a standout player on a team that has had HORRIBLE special teams the last few seasons.
It's time to quit screwing around with this guy and get someone who can play their position AND be a good special team player.
