GAMEDAY: NY Giants @ Seattle

Join us in LIVE GAMEDAY CHAT by clicking on the #12 jersey below!

The division title is all but wrapped up.

Rams: Vanquished.

Cardinals: Swallowed, digested and poo-ed.

49ers: Beat them on an 'off day'.

Now the time has come to start putting the hurt on some of the contenders of the conference. As Mack Strong put it, "The rest of the way out, the games are going to get bigger and bigger for us."

Winning the division is huge, but winning the home field advantage through the playoffs is epic.

The last place other teams want to play in January is Seattle (Egypt). The Seahawks are 19-3 at home during the regular season -- How tough will it be for them to steal one in the cold, wet dank Qwest Field in winter?

But this is getting too far ahead. It's time now to knock out the Giants and send them home dreaming of large women.

Enjoy the game. GO SEAHAWKS!!!

  1. heres a ESPN chat going on right now about Seattle:

    Eric (Seattle)
If the Seahawks earn home field advantage throughout the playoffs, who do you think, if anybody, has a chance of winning in Seattle? 11 false starts and three missed FG's for the Giants proves it is a very tough place to play.

    STEVE MUENCH
Eric, the crowd was awesome on sunday and that's great news for the Seahawks but I think Chicago could still a game there. That defense is so strong it could slow down Seattle's balanced attack. How about a curveball in Minnesota? Brad Johnson has plenty of big-game experience and he's used to playing in adverse conditions. Don;t forget Dallas either.

    Daniel (NC)
Who does Arizona need more, a QB or an RB?

    STEVE MUENCH
Daniel, Arizona clearly needs a runing back more than it needs a runing back. Warner is capable of getting the job done with a strong supporting cast but the ground game has been nonexistent. While the offensive line should shoulder most of the blame, the Cardinals don;t have a franchsie back capable of avergaing 20+ carries a game. That being said I believe that both Warner and McCown are free agents, which will affect how Arizona attacks its roster.

    Mike (Michigan)
Where will Martz coach next year and who do you like as his replacement?

    STEVE MUENCH
Mike,There qare far too many variables to predict where Martz will end up and the truth is he may have to take a coordinator job if he wants to caoch next year. Vitt is a possible replacement but the Rams are more likley to make a clean break. other than that, you'll have to wiat and see what other organiztions do with their coaches at the end of the season.

    Eric (Va)
Will the 49ers address runningback situation in the draft or go after offensive linemen to help protect Alex Smith?

    STEVE MUENCH
Eric, San Francisco's o-line is raltively young as is so looking to fill those needs with free agents is more likely than using draft pick to get it done.

    Kenny (Baton Rouge)
While I'm not a Haslett fan, doesn't any feel sorry for him or his team for what they have been through this year, not only with teh hurricane but also with Deuce going down. Give the guy a break. Your thoughts.

    STEVE MUENCH
Kenny,It's a delicate sitation and it's nice to see that some fans are considering that aspect of the story. The problem is the Saints' problems didn;t start this year and it amy be time for the organization to go in another direction.

    Steven (Encino)
With the Seahawks improved defensive line, do you think they finally have a defense that can take them to the Super Bowl

    STEVE MUENCH
Steven,Improvement is always good but Seattle's defense still has a lot to prove.

    Brad Penticton B.C., Canada
You said you believe there are a few teams that can win in Seattle. Does that mean you think somebody other than Seattle is going to the Super Bowl or do you think Seattle is the favorite?

    STEVE MUENCH
Brad, Seattle appears to be in the driver's set and for good reason but the NFC West is a weak dvision. The teams that emerge of the NFC East and West will have had to have played in more big games to get into the playoffs. That should help them and hurt Seattle.

    Jeff (Seattle, WA)
Is Seattle the dominant team in this division for years to come, or will either STL, AZ, or SF be able to catch them in the next 1-2 years?

    STEVE MUENCH
Jeff, San Francisco is at least another season away in my opinion and things in St. Louis will probably get worse before they get better but Arizona is worth keeping an eye on. it's a few missing pieces away (mostly along the offensive line) from becomng a competetive team.

    Tony ((Chicago, IL))
Hey Steve, isn't this all moot, since the NFC's best (Seattle, Chicago) really couldn't do much damage against Indy, Denver, Pittsburgh, or even Cincy?

    STEVE MUENCH
Tony,I honestly see the Super Bowl winner coming out of the AFC East but the best thing about the NFL is anyone can win on any day including Super Bowl Sunday just ask Broadway Joe or the heavily favored Rams team that lost to New England a few years back.

    tyler (olympia WA)
i can't see the logic in your west is easy commentary. Take a look at who the Hawks have played this year-- those teams you and all the pundits think are in superior divisions.

    STEVE MUENCH
Tyler, they have played a lot of those teams your rught and they but the other three teams in their dvision have lsoing records and that accounts for six games of their season.

    Paul (San Diego)
The SB winner out of the AFC EAST?!?! You have to be joking!!!

    STEVE MUENCH
Paul,Nice catch. I meant to say the AFC so the East was just a type-o. i apolgize to everyone for that madness.

    Derek Cliffe (St. Louis, MO)
How much momentum do you think the Rams unbelievable comeback victory over Houston yesterday gives them going into their hunt for a wild card spot?

    STEVE MUENCH
Derek,Almost none. it's one thing to come back against a team like Denver or Chicago. It's another when the team you come back against has hard a time staying competitive,

    Fritz (Portland)
Why does it seem like the Seahawks have the potential to break through, but always seem to struggle?

    STEVE MUENCH
Fritz, the defense is stronger this year and that has been an Achilles heel but it goes back to playing in big games I think. The pressure and stakes are higher in the playoffs and late in the year so it's important ot have a lot of big game experience.

    Jon (new york)
i am a little sickened that the only thing being taken from this seahawks-giants game is that the crowd in seatle is dangerous and the seahawks are the best team in the NFC (except for maybe the bears). the giants out played them yesterday. plain and simple, even with the crowd as a huge 12th man, the giants still had 3 chances to beat them, and if they had a tougher kicker, they could be in the drivers seat in the nfc now. if there is something to be learned from this game its that the giants can win on the road and they will be scary in the playoffs.

    STEVE MUENCH
Jon,The Giants shouldn't be overlooked but having chances to win and wining are two very diffrent things. The Giants proved they will have to be reckeoned with but Seattle proved it was the better team. That's just the bottomline.

Once the 'Hawks win on Christmas Eve, maybe then will the real talk come. I feel like right now it's nothing but backhanded comments, They're 9-2, but... Only two losses this season were to Jacksonville in the opener and Washington with some questionable play-calling by Holmgren at the end. At what point does the media start to say, You know, they ARE winning? I'm just crossing my fingers that the media-darling Bears, with Kyle I was benched my senior year at Purdue Orton under center, makes at trip to Qwest in Jan.

    STEVE MUENCH
steve,Seattle is a very strong team that still has a lot to prove. The problem is the Seahawks can't seem to win in the playoffs. until they prove they can, they won't be taken as seriously as the teams that have.

And Finish...that was an ESPN insider chatting

  3. I asked two questions that obviously weren't answered:

'Why is Seattle getting bashed every week...12 good teams in the NFL, yet Seattle is the ONLY one getting bashed'

and also, to the response of the last guy's question:

'You say Seattle has to win in the playoffs...show me where the Bears won?!?!?!?'

of course, neither was answered, but whatever

  5. "Daniel, Arizona clearly needs a runing back more than it needs a runing back. "

That my friends is the most insightful thing I have ever read. I concur wholeheartedly.

Ever seen the Rob Rang chats on .net? There are almost zero typos, from Rob or the people asking. Why is it that the worldwide leader in sports cannot hire a competent chat guy, or maybe a typist to transcribe what Steve Muench says. Good God y'all.
