The Shaun2K Report: Week 12
Although Shaun falls a little behind his usual pace this week, he is still head and shoulders above the league . All the records below are still within reach.

If this week has taught me anything, it is how little these numbers mean compared to just getting the win.
ReplyDeleteBTW, sorry it took so long to post, I made the tables and the completely forgot to post them!
I say we sit Josh Brown and just run Shaun after every TD for 2-point conversions. That will at least get him the points record from that grumpy old bastard Paul Horning!

It's not his fault, but I'm just realizing that Shaun Alexander is a lot of the reason why the Seahawks do not get the credit they deserve as a team.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who is paying attention to the club knows differently, but the casual viewing that the media pundit invest in the team from Egypt allows them to see MONSTER numbers for ONE GUY and conclude that the rest of the team must not be doing much of anything.
This leads them to the logical conclusion that teams that figure out how to stop Shaun Alexander can beat the Seahawks, and they point to the Washington, Dallas and Giants games as evidence, conveniently ignoring the fact that we won 2 of those 3 and should have won the third.
The media is like the uppity "neuveau riche" New Jersey neighbors of the Soprano family. They try their best to deny that the Soprano's don't live in their neighborhood, but they can't help notice as Tony drives by in his shiny black Escalade.
So in order to make themselves feel better, the choose to pay attention to Melo, because she's hot and polite and seems like she could be a very nice girl if she was surrounded by a different family.
That's how the media thinks of Shaun Alexander and the Seahawks family!
(does this make Coach Holmgren "Uncle Pussy"?)

Good point, Alba...
ReplyDeleteThe recent FoxSports article about how the Colts lock up the trophy if they get make it through the AFC is a perfect example...
The buttmunch says 'I can't see Hasselbeck as the leader of this team, taking them through the Colts' or something like that...Apparently, he doesn't watch our team...as Hass is the unquestioned leader, and without his 2 minute drives, we could be sitting at a good 4 or 5 losses now...
Hass might not be the best QB in the league, but hes up there...and he is certainly among the top 3 or 4 in terms of leadership

Shaun will definatly have a chance to break all of these records with the schedule we have.
ReplyDeleteOn the flipside, he might not. If we get ahead by say, three touchdowns against Tennessee or S.F. and Shaun has one, he'll get pulled. We need him for the playoffs.
I think 2,000 yards is reachable, as is the TD record. The scoring record and the rushing record though I don't see happening. )Here's hoping I'm wrong)
And if Hass isn't a leader then Favre isn't a hall of fame quarterback.
Do leaders say "We want the ball, and we're going to score!"? No. They don't. And while he was wrong, he showed confidence in his team. Thats what leaders do. A leader isn't the best person on the team. He's the guy who inspires confidence and he's the guy thats just as happy when a teamate does something great instead of him.
