Terrell Owens Will Not Return This Season

Cannot believe I caught this when it happened...which was less then 7 minutes ago...

From Fox Sports:

Coach Andy Reid announced at his Monday press conference that Owens has been suspended four games for conduct detrimental to the team and will not be brought back after that suspension.

Normally I would hate to give and Eagle a headline here, but since we play them, this gives the media an excuse the for butt whipping we were gonna give the Eagles on worldwide TV...but, it also opens up an easy win for us!

  1. It would have been an easy win anyway cuz they cannot run the ball. No excuse needed we're the better team.

  2. oh im pretty sure you and I are one of the few in America that noticed Philly was overrated...

Had Carolina and Seattle not suffer the ridiculous injuries they went through, Philly wouldn't of been in the Super Bowl (and noone give me that New England had the most injuries in the league but still won it all crap...they didnt have major injuries like us and Carolina...they didnt their RB, QB, every WR, every LB like our two teams did)

Truth is, we know the media will say during MNF, 'What would of happened in this game had TO been playing' and stuff like that...the Eagles were a 4 star team (out of SIX)...now they are a 2-3 star team

McNabb did show yesterday that he can run if forced, and Reggie Brown looks dangerous...but their offense with TO couldnt keep up with ours...and their defense wouldnt stop our offense...everyone can say we dont have a defense...but we were 8th in the NFL going into yesterday, and Philly couldnt have done much better, if they were ranked better in the first place

  3. Its interesting, because the Vikings are considered the joke of the NFL...

Since the media like Philly, they fail to realize who the real joke was...

Philly was punked out by TO so much, they became an embaressment...they finally do something, but gave him more chances the we did with KRob...

KRob has the SAME kind of talent Owens does, on the SAME level...so thats no excuse at all for keeping Owens around...KRob never utilized his talent, while Owens established himself before becoming a jerk...its not about popularity, its about talent...and I honestly think they were both talented, though not great

  5. THANK GOD that this selfish, me-me-me attitude finally has caught up with him and bitten him on his Clayton.

I'm so sick of these star players getting all the breaks and benefits of the doubt when they are a cancer to their team.

#81 (i don't like to even give him the recognition of using his name, since that just provides the attention he craves) definitely has mental issues, and instead of being happy with "half a loaf", he killed the golden goose by whining about his contract when it was obvious that Philly wasn't renegotiating.

Oh, he'll catch on somewhere (cough-Raiders-cough) but nowhere near the money he was demanding from the Iggles, and with probably a very incentive laden deal.

Tampa cut Keyshawn loose a couple years ago under similar circumstances, didn't they? While similarly selfish and egotistical, he seemed to get them message, and has let his play do the talking for him now that he's gotten a 3rd chance in Dallas.

Maybe #81 will get that same message, but I doubt it.

Actually, having the Iggles sack-up and put him on ice like this works AGAINST the Seahawks and our Monday night matchup.

I was hoping that the disease "number81anoma" would continue to matastize throughout the next several weeks, creating a dysfunctional rift of epic proportion by our MNF game.

Now the Iggles get to go into remission, and start the healing process, and a couple of their benchriding WRs seemed to step up in that game last nite with the Slurs.

Either way, what happened to #81 is not only good for the Iggles, Good for the NFL, but it's good for Society, to see that every now and then, no matter how big of a star (cough-asshole-cough) you are, you have to stand up and be accountable for your actions.

  6. I would say a healthy D McNabb without TO is more dangerous than a hurt McNabb with (see NCF, last 4 years), meaning McNabb is the catalyst for the team, not TO. Iggles are still going to fall, but not because of TO either way. We'll win based on our RB is better, and our D is better and well suited to keep the WCO from scoring. And yes, the media will continue to consider us lucky when we beat them. Probably until the Detroit game, all luck.

  7. Just to throw a different point of view on this...This is playing out exactly like TO wants.

TO's entire routine is about getting paid. Unlike all other pro sports NFL contracts aren't guarenteed. The real value of a NFL contract is the signing bonus because it is guarenteed, and in pocket. Everything else about a NFL contract can be voided at the drop of a hat. TO realizes this and wants to bounce from team to team simply to score more signing bonuses. Think about it.

TO was willing to go to the Ravens--a team that counts its pass attempts both shoes on and one hand in it's pocket. It would have been a horrible fit, but TO didn't care because of the signing bonus. Luckily for him, Philly stepped in to provide a signing bonus and a good team.

Hmmm...do you think it's a coincidence that TO mentioned Brett Farve a week ago? A team desparate and riddled with injuries on offense. If only there was some way for TO to get cut, released from his contract, and sign a new one. The pack has a horrible record, which means they'd be one of the earlier suitors when TO is released. Cha-ching! Another signing bonus.

I'm more surprised other players haven't tried it. Afterall, if you got the talent you've "just been misunderstood" and "need a fresh set of circumstances". Someone will sign TO when he gets cut. In the end, fans can hate him, teammates resent him, but he'll eagerly point out he made more money than anyone in the league.

  8. that is a good perspective, Bok...

I dont think he will go anywhere else unless the team is desperate, and I dont htink he is getting a big payday again, either...

Wow, maybe he is planning that...and maybe a team out there would be stupid enough to give him a huge contract *cough-vikingsrams49ersraiderschiefsdolphinsbrownstexansjaguarsjets-cough*

  9. I don't know Boko, I get the logic but I disagree because I personally think he just shot himself in the foot contract wise. After all, who would want the guy now? No team in their right minds wants to give this guy a contract anymore, much less one that he is worth. The simple fact is, that as much as I cannot stand the guy, he really is a top five reciever and would normally get paid like one. But because he can't keep his trap shut, no team will now pay him what he is worth numbers and talent wise, because he is such a cancer. I think it is great! This jerk has it coming to him! Next season he will have to suck it up, and likely play for some team he doesn't want to play for, for a much smaller contract than what he is worth (or would be worth if he wasn't such a giant Johnson).
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy LOL!

  10. I like T.O, well kind of. I think he's funny, He's cool as long as he's not the SeaHawks problem, i could careless what goes on between Philly and him. Oh and the media will go on about how we beat a team that didn't have it's star reciever. That if they had him we wouldn't have a chance, and so on and so forth. They will never admit that we are just simply the better team which we are.

  11. Not to go all "Red Forman" on you, but if you enjoy the NFL at all, then you'd better care about the TO situation, as it is everything that's wrong with "today's modern athlete".

These guys make INCREDIBLE livings and keep getting further and further away from the warrior like attitude of guys like Jim Otto and Ray Nitche and Jim Brown.

Hell, even the "modern owners" are threatening to kill the golden goose, or at least cut off one of it's legs, by messing with the revenue sharing plan.

The NFL is the BEST of the major sports leagues because of the parity in schedule and revenue sharing between clubs, as well as the tight control that the commissioner holds over the league and the players.

If the inmates start running the asylum, we'll be reduced to the NBA in no time at all, where it's all about "street cred", the gangsta persona, and individual statistics.

As soon as we start caring more about T.O than the Philly Eagles, or closer to home, caring more about K-Rob than the Seattle Seahawks, then we start losing what's right and good about this sport.
