This One's on Check Award (SEA @ SF)

I have a very difficult time trying to pin this award on a 49er, since face it, those fairies played their hearts out, and not a one of them stood out as having a bad day. I gotta give props out to Dorsey, who played us tough, and unafraid until the very last play. More props to Brandon Lloyd who put up a game against our DB's that we haven't seen since week 1 against Jacksonville.

So if this award is tought to give to a 49er, what about giving it to...

  1. Trufant was a good choice. He got beat alot yesterday. It hurt me to see him do so bad. He jsut flat out blew it, but so did most of the secondary, but i pick on him because he's "supposed" to be our best defender and at times he is, but this year i feel that he is yet to deliver, (just my opinion though)he has had some good games, but i thought this would be the year for him.

I thought the d line played awesome. They got a consistent pass rush from the 4 man front but Dorsey some how managed to throw completions with men in his face. Bernard is awesome, maybe he deserves a starting job even after Tubbs is back, Maybe him and Tubbs with Darby being the sub.

I guess the 49ers o-line is an okay pick but Trufant and the secondary deserve it more even if they are our beloved Seahawks, but what the hell we won.

  2. Tough one, gotta agree with Tru and SF O-line as candidates. However, the SF O-line isn't supposed to be good, even when healthy they aren't, and they weren't healthy. So they didn't do any worse than expected. I would disagree that the SF WR corps is bad, they are actually pretty good individually, but having a different QB every week won't cut it. Dorsey looked pretty good, but Smith will be back until he gets hurt, then on again to *The Cody Project*.

Tru, I don't know what goes on, I still think it may be scheme, he isn't in a position to make plays, at least not game changers. Perhaps part of the "bend don't break" defense that has been so effective? If that is the case, then nice work... I guess.

So how bout another pair of candidates, after that game they both could probably use one. A round for the Mikes, Holmgren and Nolan. Holmgren, cuz a nail biter was not what he was thinking going into the game, and he admitted he may have put the O on cruise a bit early, and Nolan, cuz he's a rookie coach of a bad team.

  4. I have no problem with this pick at all. Though to be fair MOST of the catches that hurt us came against Herndon, he was pretty bad.
Truth is none of our CBs have looked very good this year, and for that matter, neither has Boulware. OUr entire secondary is getting beat far too often for my liking.
Hamlin was looking GREAT till he got into that fight, and now Manuel has been very solid in his place, but the rest leave something to be desired so far.
