Rolling through the season with "The Hammer" down

Word is out that Ken Hamlin is out for the season.

He will be missed.

On the field, not only has he proven himself an inspirational leader, he gives the defense a toughness to its identity, just as the heaviest hitter on any team does.

Take, for example, the matchup this week vs. the Tardinals. He has been, in the past, a big factor in keeping their receivers in check. In the back of their minds they know he is going to seperate their soul from the football. They know he's going to make them pay. Nobody on the team has consistently delivered devastating hits quite like this man. He is NOT someone I would ever want to play against.

Hopefully he can continue to be an inspiration off the field, as he was before the Dallas game. Hopefully he can draw courage from his teammates as well, because from what little I know of head injuries, he is going to have a long, tedious rehab that is going to push his patience to the limit.

In any case, get well, Ken.

  1. I saw this earlier on Sando's blog but couldn't come up with a good Hammer headline...yours is perfect!

Shortly after the incident, Sando speculated that once Ken is on his feet he should be a permanent fixture on the Seahawks sidelines.

    Get well indeed, Mr. Hammer.

  2. I guess im the only person who thought he would play again this year

Oh well, his health is more important...huge blow to us, but we got players to fill in...

Also, we could play each week motivated like the Cowboys game

  3. Agree, good headline... Hope he gets on the sidelines soon, I would think that would help being around the guys. I wouldn't think the rehab would be that difficult, as long as he still has all his motor and speech functions (I don't know if he does, does he? I hope so. I hadn't heard he was that bad...) I don't think it would hurt much, nothing you couldn't do barring football and general banging of your head into stuff (possible hobby, the guy is a safety...) I would think its a better rehab than an ACL.
