KHI: Week 10

This week's Ken Hamlin Impersonation award was the most lopsided contest yet in the long and storied history of the KHI. The play happened early, set a tone, and once again it came from the offensive side of the ball.

It was early in the game, the 4:34 mark of the first quarter. It was second and 10 on the lambs' 15. The call was a sweep to the left, but the lambs had stacked the line, and bottled up the run. Shaun countered by cutting back to the right.

As I looked back across the field I thought, "Great, Matt's there to spring Shaun!" Then out of no where comes Sean Locklear! Sean lays Lenord Little out like a cheap throw rug. It was beautiful. The play--actually just Sean's hit--was shown 3 times in slow motion on the jumbotron. Each wonderful replay got a lusty, "oooohhhhh", from the crowd.

Oh yea, the Hawks lost 3 yards on the play, but who cares. Seeing Lenord "why aren't I in jail" Little laid out was great. That was about the biggest play Little made all day.

  1. So far this is favorite hit of the year. Not only was it a great hit, but it was poetically/ironically significant, ala "Largent's Revenge" hit.

  2. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!

And while he hasn't laid out any Hammer-like hits (yet), I think Marquand Manuel deserves an honorable menition for this award, as he's been impersonating Kenny with his level of play ever since being called on to fill in for him since the Pioneer Square debacle.

  3. you know you have a smart, dedicated fanbase when the ENTIRE stadium oohhhhed and ahhhheed on a block...

casual fans dont notice great blocks like that, though I doubt anyone couldnt have noticed that one (I saw the replay)

  4. loved the block. They should have showed it on ESPN and on every Hawks postgame show, but i didn't, did anyone else.

  5. The peel-back block that Locklear laid on Little was good enough for #5 on the "Jacked Up" segment on ESPN's MNF pre-game show. Wish I could transfer from my TiVo to my PC or I'd post it here. It's a thing of beauty!

  6. i was snooping around at the st. losers today website so i could see how sorry they were feeling and guess what i saw. Locklears block was so good that even St. Loser had to give credit for it.

Just look at the headline Mashing hit welcomes Little back to action

  7. I think Manuel is a better overall safety then Ken Hamlin.... there, I said it. Kenny hits harder though.

  8. Hey everyone, JoSCh is drunk.

Hmmmm...MM was here before KH, yet KH has started from day one. Wonder why?

  9. Distinct probability... and I think when/if Kenny comes back he'll be the starter, but MM has better coverage skills, and seems to be faster. Kenny is better in run support, but he had to be, as the LBs sucked. And again, Kenny is more intimidating. To qualify my response MM is better for us this year. Also, just because Hamlin started over him from day one, is it possible that MM got better? Just saying. And I won't lay off the sauce, you ain't my wife!!!
