The Most Fierce Of Birds Soar Higher Than The Weak

Well...Seattle defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 42 - 0.

Some note about this game:

- Eliminated the East Coast Demon
- Won in horrible snow weather
- Defense forced 6 turnovers
- 21, or half, of the points were scored by the defense
- McMahon's picks were from the receiver's not paying attention to the ball they caught, while Detmer's picks were from tipped passes
- Lofa Tatupu had 9 tackles, a Int, and 4 passes defended
- It was the first time in 30 years the Eagles have allowed two interception runbacks in a game...the last team to do it against them? The Rams in 1975
- Detmer, who was being pushed in by the crowd, not only gave up 2 interceptions, but fumbled the ball away twice...Ryan Moats also had two fumbles
- On the opening drive, Seattle converted four 3rd down conversion attempts, taking 8 minutes or so off the clock
- Seahawks now hold the record for largest shutout in MNF History
- Seahawks tied the record for largest margin of victory in MNF History
- Seahawks are one of 3 teams in NFL History, and the first since 1966, to score at least 40 points with less then 200 total offensive yards
- Andre Dyson recovered both a fumble and an interception for TDs
- Shaun Alexander has 19 carries, 49 yards, with 2 TDs...he leads the league in rushing yards, but only by a small margin over Edgerrin James
- Seattle didn't throw more than 3 passes in the 2nd half
- Hasselbeck finished with 98 yards passing, with a TD
- It was Philadelphia's worst loss since a 38-0 flop against Seattle to open the 1998 season
- It was the Eagles’ worst home loss since they were beaten 49-0 by Green Bay in 1962
- Seahawks now 8-0 without their star receiver, Darrell Jackson
- Seahawks have tied their longest win streak ever...
- Seahawks handed Andy Reid his worst loss in 7 years as a head coach
- Andre Dyson was the first player to have 2 TDs in a game off of turnovers since 1984, when Dave Brown did it
- Seahawks scored on their first possession, and on the Eagle's first possession

Seattle is now 10-2, atop the NFC still, and outscored teams 84-10 in primetimes this year (Philly and Houston)... http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5142204

  2. Lofa is still a reach... I don't know that this is a *Championship caliber* team, I mean, maybe by week 4 or 5 of the 2008 season we'll know. Shaun Alexander ain't that good either, only 49 yards, sheesh. Nor is Hass, only 98 yards? Those look like Chicago Bears (the greatest team ever) offensive stat lines. I don't care they only played a half, and basically only had one drive with a possibility of going more than 50 yards, its a clear lack of consistency and tenacity.

And to re-iterate what I said in flooble, Mike Boulware, what kind of sissy move was that? Can't even get a simple interception return into the endzone? I call that lack of effort and committment, not to mention talent. Or maybe he was just laughing too much to continue running.

Anyway, fellas who want the media's respect... you probably ain't getting it this week. So I call for a hearty fork-Q to the media, and a giant bravo, encore to the Seahawks.

  3. I still say the stat of the week is that the Seahawks are UNDEFEATED and UNSCORED UPON in games that Joe Tafoya starts!

Screw Shaun Alexander, let's wrap up Tafoya to a long term deal TODAY!!!

  4. Oh, and in case the Colts aren't paying attention, we're not just the FIRST team to wrap up a Divisional Title, we're also the FIRST team to rest our starters in the second half of a late season game!

  5. Yeah, but the Seahawks don't play in a tough division like Indy with Houston, Jax, and Tennessee, even though we have to this year... uhh, I know there is an excuse I can use somewhere.

    Go Joe Tafoya!!!

  6. EIGHT COMPLETIONS! Yes, you read that right. A Mike Holmgren coached team just won a completing only 8 passes...for the ENTIRE GAME!

One, count it, ONE Kick Off return! Good think Josh Scobey plays on kick coverage or he'd have to give back his game check this week!

So many great stats from this game, yet the game killed our offense statistically.

    Go figure!

  7. For me the stat of the game...total yards!

    Seattle D = 179 yards, 21 points
    Philly O = 190 yards, 0 points

  8. JoSCh, you are definitely right. We dont really know how good the Seahwaks are. As Madden & Michaels pointed out several times, we don't know if this is a good Seattle team or a bad Philly team. Sure, Seattle has a good offense, but the defense is questionable, and defense wins championships. So they scored three TD's while shutting Philly out. The defense is still suspect because they were just inches away from letting SF tie the score in a game they should have won handily. And the sacks, well thats just because Seattle's offense is good at getting ahead, letting the defense key on pass rushing, so it doesn't really mean anythign that the defense is leading the league in sacks.

No, a purely offensive team like the Seahawks can't make it to the Superbowl. Besides, the offense only looks good statistically because they are winning so many games, and using those leads to pad their numbers. If they lost a few more games, we'd know how good the offense REALLY is. Look at last night - only 194 yards. Is that a good offense? They had to rely on the defense to score half their points last night. That's pretty sad. And Alexander is defintely overrated, managing only a platry 49 yards against a suspect Philly defense. They are a good offense, but not a great one, like Carolina, or San Diego, and definitely not in the same league as Indy. Besides, you need a good DEFENSE to win a superbowl, and these guys just haven't proved they are a good defense.

  9. I honestly don't know why they even play the games since the outcomes are pre-determined. Congratulations to the Colts for their back to back perfect seasons and 4 Superbowl victories. They certainly are a dynasty to remember... once we get to the point that this stuff has happened in the past.

  10. lmao Josch and Highwater...and even Alba's reminder of the great MVP Joe Tafoya

Its kinda cool, if you remember the Seahawks got all that rest during the bye week, and came out and whipped the Cardinals' booties...well, our starters got some extra rest so this might be a good thing...

Only problems I honestly had was the fact that I hate seeing '42' or '49' on the board, and not 50...and I still wished Shaun stayed in longer instead of Hass...at least try to get him 80 yards, so he can maintain a big lead for the rushing title...Holmgren, you owe him at least that after last year (lil kidding there)...but seriously, its understandable, and a great game for us

We also got to see the patented Leonard Weaver STIFF ARM! : )

  11. The sehawks offense sucks. They aren't even ranked number 1 anymore. The only reason the Seahawks win is because they play weaker opponents. Screw the media. It has become less annoying and more amusing to hear what they have to say. Sallisburry was actually praising us yesterday even though he said he wasn't sure if they were good enough to win a playoff game.

Isn't it funny how when Chicago has alot of turnovers it's because they have the best defense the NFL has seen since 1985, but if the seahawks do it it's because they were playin a weak and depleted offense.
Lets face it Seattle aint gettin no respect and they probably won't until they win a playoff game (which i have not lived to see yet).

Here's the media response to the rest of our games

Defeat 49ers: they're lookin forward to th 06 draft already, they don't count.

Defeat Titans: The youngest team in the league we don't know how good the Seahawks are yet

    Here Come the Colts

Defeat Colts: The Colts were restin up, not tryin to play as hard, and trin to avoid injury, The Seahawks wouldn't have won if they played earlier in the season.

Defeat Packers: They are the worst team in the worst division, who cares anymore, Favre is done anyways.

See no respect. Media won't let in, forget it.

Good post adp. I like it when ur giddy

  12. Thanks!

I spent awhile working on it...

The no respect thing is blatantly obvious at this point, and while we shouldn't care, its still annoying...ive said before, its possible to stay under the radar and get respect...Denver and Jacksonville are doing it as we speak...the media just flat out doesn't like us

I personally think if the San Francisco 49ers were 10-2, locked their division in 12 weeks, beat the opponents 28.2 ppg vs. 17.3 oppg, I would give them credit...

Hell, I think the Bears are one of the WORST-AVERAGE TEAMS IN THE NFL (SERIOUSLY...in the nfc, I only see the Packers, 49ers, Cardinals, Saints, and Lions worse then them right now), but im still giving them respect for being 8-3 and beating a few DECENT teams (and one good one in Carolina)

  13. Yea, but we all would agree that we would have beaten the 49ers if we only could have converted that 2-point play at the end of that game in Seattle!
