The Shaun2K Report: Week 15

Well I haven't been posting this the last two weeks because the 2,000 yard psuedo-goal seems to be a fleeting fancy.

Which is just fine. This team is all about the 'W's, not the 'I's, right? But after another outstanding game, I thought you might want to know where he stands:

  1. Great to see this back Bluefoot.

It's gonna be a really interesting two weeks, which will really reveal how much of a "team" guy Shaun really is.

That being said, I think Indy and the Seahawks play their starters for most of the game next week.

  2. I think its clear that he won't reach 2,000 yards. I really do hope he gets the TD record, but we will probably rest him the next two games. Maybe when the team reaches the redzone they will plug him in and try to get him the TD's .

Scoring only one touchdown in each of the past two games probably hurt his chances but what the hell a TD is a TD wether it comes from Hasselbeck, Alexander, the defense, Josh Scobey, or Jimmy Williams

  3. With Holm's overdeveloped sense of fair play, I wouldn't see him playing MoMo and Weaver and then plugging in Shaun in the red zone. Wouldn't be fair to the other guys and would be showing up the opposition.

I believe our starters will play the first half of the Indy game, or at least as long as the Indy starters do.

The guys want to play and Mike will want them to keep their weekly rituals and gametime rhythm.

  4. Still need to win a game to secure HFA. Starters will play until they are obviously no longer needed. And the D will play all game no matter what. I wouldn't be too surprised to see Shaun being brought in as a goal line back as long as he was still warm. If he'd rested for 30 minutes and the ball was on the one I doubt he'd go in.

  5. Really? I don't think that's Holmgren's style. He only throws in the 'Weaver cigar' when the game is well in hand and they don't need any more scores. I don't think we'd see Shaun in the case like you're saying, JoSCh.

  6. Agree, but these would be *special* circumstances. If Shaun needs one more to tie or beat the TD record, I wouldn't be surprised to see him. Holmgren knows that that is something special, not just any guy has the opportunity. If the opportunity arose and he said, "Nope, its not fair to Weaver, the rookie fullback should get a TD this year, not a record breaker for Shaun and the line" he'd have a locker room problem, and probably not just from Shaun and the line. And they'd be right. Not allowing a low risk history maker is a recipe for disaster. Just my opinion, hopefully we won't need to see.

  7. I agree Josh, but I don't see it happening. Holmy could have gotten a TD or two more for SA in either of the past three games. He has chosen to thumb his nose at SA and his potential records. I don't see that changing, though I think it should.

I hope this doesn't become a potential contract threat. For instance, if Holmy had gone out of his way to let SA score in some of these blowouts, it could be a bargaining chip. "Look at what we did to help you achieve a personal record." Is the fact that he hasn't going to be a bargaining chip for everyone else?
