Why The Hell Didn't I Punt?

Not to beat a dead horse into the ground, but...

As I read the hundreds of posts and articles about how LUCKY the Seahawks were that Feely missed 3 potential game winners, I don't hear anyone questioning why Tom Coughlin didn't punt and pin the Hawks deep in their own end instead of attempting a 54 yarder?

If you read the articles, the Giants OUTPLAYED the Seahawks all day, and Osi WhattheF#ckkah made Walter Jones look like a rookie. (on 2 maybe 3 plays, but let's not let the facts get involved here)

So the question is. You have the #1 offense, a DOMINANT defense and a kicker who already missed a makeable 40-yarder at the end of regulation, why not call for a punt?

I'll tell you why.

Because he was SCARED (and RIGHTFULLY SO) and was trying to STEAL a win from the home team!

In fact, missing the kick gave the Seahawks great field position and his DOMINANT defense was torched, like they were in the 4th quarter drive, and the better team WON THE GAME, just as he knew they would.

That's why Coughlin didn't punt.

  1. The more we get bashed about this game, the more im smiling...I just find it awesome that we stung the media so badly with that victory over Ecry Womanning and his band of Whinants...I hope we corrupted that team for the rest of the season...not because they are good, but because they deserve to get knocked on their asses...

They are like a priss getting dirty for the first time...How many times did we get the assend of games like that? Unlike them, we got BASHED on top of it...and did the Seahawks make excuses and complained? (with the exception of the ref screwjobs...we have a right to complain about that)...the Giants aren't used to getting their nails dirty...

Some say if we meet in the playoffs, they will beat us...we will have DJack by then...a chip on our shoulder, home advantage, weather, Eli's lack of playoff experience, the crowd, and most importantly...a better team...I say we WHIP THIER ASSES if they try us in the playoffs

I PROMISE...no doubt in my mind...they wanna play rough? OK...

  2. Also, I want them to trade Tiki Barber, as he is the only player on that team that was classy before, during, and after that game...he deserves better

Let Will Peterson go, too...he was injured, so he didn't matter...but I have always liked him

  3. I'd love to see the Giants meet the Seahawks on Qwest Field in the playoffs. The Seahawks were a bit flat that game. The O-line wasn't as dominant, the passing wasn't as crisp as it could be. The defense let them have a lot of yards, but is getting better game by game. By the playoffs....

  5. The only thing I'd argue is that Osi Umenyiuri did beat Jones the entire game. He only sacked Matt a few times, but for whatever reason, Jones couldn't keep him out of Matt's face.

  6. shut up. tell the giants and everyone else who keeps talking about how lucky we are to just shut up. If the Giants are real, they'll man up and beat the cowboys or they'll be fighting for their playoff lives.

  7. COuldn't agree more with the points you made alba, I have mentioned it several times already, that none of those kicks were gimmes, in fact I didn't think at the time that he would hit them, they were too far out and under too much pressure with all the crowd noise etc...
But whatever, I guess being up by eight at the end of regulation means that we were outplayed right? I quess we just got lucky there too right? Gimme a break, luck had nothing to do with it.
