Time for some Homerism: I believe

You can interpret the title of this post in two ways. One, I believe its time for some homerism. Or I believe. And thats why I'm going to be a homer.

Either one works.

We all know what its like to follow this team. Seasons of unrealized promises, heartbreaking losses, and laughter out of Bristol and New York when we have some success.

And so, we have interpreted the following philosphy as fans: wait and see. Expect the worst. the Seahawks are usually more than happy to oblige. The 1999 season comes to mind. The Rams game at Qwest Field also is a good example. (Come to think of it, so is last season.)

But, I say, let it go. Believe in this team fully. Think of this as the complete opposite of the badger game that some expect. Think of this as the Mortal Combat video game, and we've been given the order to "Finish" the Eagles.

Philly gave up 111 yards to Samkon Gado last week. Whats Shaun Alexander going to do? Mike McMahon was 12-28 with 91 yards passing against Green Bay. Is he going to come alive against us?

No. We're going to roll in this one. Shaun comes alive in primetime. The Eagles are depleted. Everything points to a Seahawks victory on Monday night.

We can't overlook them. We still have to focus. But, if we play our game on Monday night, we will win, and win big. Simple as that.

Time to cross off the East Coast from the list of curses to overcome.

  2. Curses left:

    East Coast
    Playoff Game
    Lack Or Super Bowl Appearance
Revenge On Green Bay (we might be playing in Brett Favre's lastcareer game)

They all look doable this year...

But onto Alan's point, I, in particular, know we're a good team...I am confident about every game (except during gametime...in which im a nervous wreck)...BUT however, I try to get at peace with the worst case scenerio, in part, so im prepared for it (and less affected should something horrible happen)...AND with low expectations...its easier to achieve something positive from the season

    Im on the fence here

  4. I think we will win big. We aren't playin at 10 in the mornin so the time difference shouldn't be a problem.

There offense doesn't have a single thing on our defense. It's upto our offense to perform, i'm gettin sick of not seein a first down in a whole quarter like we have in the past two weeks, how do we still manage to be the number one offense even though we go an intire quarter without gettin a first down.

Alexander rushes for 150+ and a pair of touchdowns. Hasslebeck compliments that with a good passing day (no turnovers). The defensewill get 3+ sacks, and a couple of turnovers, no more bend but don't break. We won't bend at all we will force a few 3 and outs. Special teams will give the offense good field position.

After we end up destroyin the Eagles we will come back home. On Tuesday the media will talk about how the Seahawks beat a depleted team who isn't half as good as the team they were last day. Then they will say that the they don't know how good the Seahawks are even though they have the #1 record in the NFC.Then the media will spend the rest of the week talking about the winners of the Cowboys v Giants and Falcons v. Panthers game and how great of a team they are while completely ignoring the Seahawks.

That was alot to get off my chest!

  6. lol nice analysis, Citizen

meanwhile as I type this...Carolina, Chicago are winning...GB is in striking distance...if the Bears lose that game it would be HUGE...they drop 1 1/2 games back, have a loss to a division opponent, and another conference loss...a GB win could possibly all but eliminate the Bears from being a huge threat

  7. Well, it's not really the Curse of the Scary Burger Kind dude, but have you seen the NFL Properties commercials with the Eagles mascot? Can this be another Madison Avenue Whammy??!!

And lots of streaks ended today, Atlanta's over Carolina, The Pack at Soldiers Field, so the Seahawks East Coast woes should end tomorrow too.

Actually, I'm happy the Bears won today, as it still gives Seattle something to play for tomorrow. If they clinched the division and went 1.5 games up on HFA, the guys may have been tempted to coast at Philly.

WE MUST PROTECT THIS HFA EDGE!!!

  8. I believe too... I suspect we'll smack the poo out of Philthy, the Whiners and the Titanics. I can't wait for Christmas eve... a true test assuming all the starters play for both teams. I wonder if either team with all starters would scale back to save "the good stuff" for a future meeting?

  10. I am cool with this alan, if our defense stops playing bend don't break I agree with you. If not expect to pull a badger out of its hole.

As I said we're the better team and should win easy, but it all comes down to our defensive philosophy.

  11. You know, as painful as it is to watch, I think we need to get used to this "bend don't break" thing, as it *IS* the defensive philosophy, and it has been working.

The Seahawks have gotten too far to start mucking around with things, and you just don't chage philosphies mid stream, unless you're a politician or corporate executive!

Seattle needs to "dance with the date that brung them" and ride out the next 5 games.

  12. If that's true alba, then we can expect every game we play the rest of the way to be closer than it needs to be.

  13. I just think that Holmy wakes up with cold sweats thinking aobut those late game rallys made by the Rams and Cowboys last year, and his HELL BENT against getting beat deep anymore.

  14. The irony of course is that the bend don't break defense is exactly the reason that the Rams cae back against the Seahawks and exactly why they have lost games that they should otherwise have won.

If we don't get less conservative on defense it could come back to bite us in the ass in the playoffs.
