Pro Bowl Rosters Announced!

Just posted at Seahawks.com...

KIRKLAND - Seattle Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander, QB Matt Hasselbeck, G Steve Hutchinson, T Walter Jones and FB Mack Strong were selected to represent the club in the 2006 Pro Bowl, it was announced by the NFL Wednesday. Seahawks K Josh Brown, LB Lofa Tatupu, and C Robbie Tobeck are alternates and will make the trip if a selected player is injured or chooses not to play.

>>>> ORIGINAL POST <<<<<
Today at 1:00pm PST (4:00pm EST) the NFL will be announcing the AFC/NFC Pro Bowl rosters.

Seahawks sure to be mentioned are Shaun Alexander, Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson. Probable additions are Matt Hasselbeck and Mack Strong.

Due to the relative youth, injuries and deep rotation, we're probably not going to send any defenderst to Hawaii, but long shots could be Lofa Tatupu, Rocky Bernard and Bryce Fisher.

During yesterday's press conference, Coach Holmgren even made mention of my sentimental favorite, and longest of long shots, Josh "12:30" Scobey.

Who else do you think may win this prestigious trip to Hawaii?

  1. I have a bad feeling Mack Strong wont make it...

I was the first of a billion people to start the Mack Strong to Hawaii rant...and dammit I want it to happen...theman deserves it.

Im glad half of the reporters put out articles about him today...I just think he deserves it before its too late...this guy doesnt get the credit he deserves in front of Shaun

As for Scoobs...who knows, but not likely

Im a little annoyed seeing Eli Manning leading the NFC in votes...Hass is BY FAR the best QB in the NFC right now...he is in the top 5 in the NFL overall (regardless of whos injured---or McNabb)...fans are so stupid...its frustrating

  2. Most Fans either vote for their home boys, or just know what the media feeds them, and we all know the media is full of!

I was disappointed that NFL Total Access had Shawn Merriman on yesterday, as it can really sway the DROY voting as well.

In the end of program run down, Linc Kennedy didn't even mention Lofa in his list of DROY favorites.

But if Eli Manning goes to the Pro Bowl and Matt doesn't, I'll be totally pizzed!

  3. Ironic you say that, alba (and props fornot skimming! i tried to get straight to the point since it was your topic)

But ironic, because I just check SI's site, and sure enough, and article sucking Merriman's peepee...and sure enough, a poll at the bottom asking who the DROY is...

    Thurman
    Merriman
    Tatupu
    Ware

Now everyone knows it was Thurman and Tatupu battling for it until the Chargers played a team they actually watch, the Colts...and sure enough, Merriman suddenly dusted the others in the poll

    (37% Merriman, Tatupu in 2nd with 30%)

Why ask a poll if you are going to try to sway everyone...you should make cases for EVERYONE involved

Tatupu's position gives him the nod IMO...otherwise I would flip a coin between him and THURMAN

  4. Tatupu probably wouldnt have even been on that poll if it wasnt for the national TV game against the media's favorite, Philadelphia Eagles...everyone tuned in thinking they were gonna win of course, instead they see a man beast

As for the Pro Bowl...dunno if Tattoo is going to Fantasy Island this year...

  5. ADP...that last line is almost bucket worthy!

  6. I would assume Mack will get it, even if he were the alternate I'd bet one of the other NFC FBs would choose to not go out of respect. But the players and coaches voting should put him in.

Honestly, pro-bowl balloting seems to be more of a last year thing, guys who played well last year get the votes this year, as long as they are playing reasonably well (and with the same team) this year. That said, we should have more players next year. Probably even some D guys, although really, only Tat and Rocky are standouts, IMO.

I don't get the rabid Scooby support, other than homerism, which I support. He isn't a stand out kick returner. He's a good ST player overall, a good gunner, and good returner, but pro bowl kick returner? The Arizona guy is probably the best in the NFC, Swinton, or even the NYG guy, Morton.

  7. The Scobey thing is a little homerism on my part, but even Holms mentioned him for the ProBowl, based on his adequate return skills PLUS his outstanding coverage skills. The problem is, they have two spots on the ProBowl roster, one for return and one for gunner, and he's probably under the radar (and stats) on both.

And CitK, I'm just happy that there are people who remember analog clocks. It's funny how often used phrases like "dial a phone" or "tie a shoe" not longer make sense in this world of push buttons and velcro.

  8. Ummm, alb, nobody but kids under 8 and men over 60 wear velcro shoes... kinda the same with watches, nobody but the aforementioned demo wears digital watches either.

  10. I'll be one pissed guy if Mack Strong doesn't get in to be honest i would rather have Mack Strong go instead of Alexander even though Alexander is putting up career numbers, Mack Strong deserves to be in the pro bowl more than anyone i can think of.

Even though he doesn't have the most receptions he does have the 2nd most TD catches in the NFC send Jurevicous to Hawaii, the guy deserves it he does have the 2nd most recieving scores.

I love Scobey but he won'tget in. He's a better gunner than return man.

Fans are stupid and shouldn't be allowed to vote. Why do they let fans vote, especially when its on the internet. Last year in the NBA allstar games Yao Ming got the most votes because he's from the worlds most populated country. Anybody on earth with an internet connection can vote wether they no about football or not. It's stupid don't let the fans vote. Coaches and player only, don't let the writers vote either cause they are just as stupid/biased as the fans. Only players and coaches should vote for the pro bowl. When fans vote it becomes a popularity contest regardless of the players accomplishmets.

    Sorry for the long rant.

  11. Well, in the NFC, Eli Manning  won the fan vote for QB, but per the unofficial report from .net Manning didn't make it. If this is true, then it would seem the fan vote can be *overruled* by the coaches and players.

  12. Nope. If Eli's going to Hawaii it will be to carry his brother's suitcase!

  13. Yes the coaches and players actually have sense unlike the fans. RB Shaun Alexander, QB Matt Hasselbeck, G Steve Hutchinson, T Walter Jones and FB Mack are all goin baby. K Josh Brown, LB Lofa Tatupu, and C Robbie Tobeck are all alternatives. Lets just take the whole Seahawks team i really think we can defeat the probowlers from the AFC.

Eli was fan favorite because he's from New York, whats the biggest city in the U.S uhh New York.
Any ways its good to see some NewYorkers have sense and support the SEATTLE "SUPER" SEAHAWKS! cough albaNY cough Hawker.

Who got the nod instead of Tatupu i can't think of a single middle linebacker who is playin better than this guy

Off Topic: whats up with the Yanks gettin Damon alba must be happy with all the Seahawk probowlers and his Yankees gettin Johnny Damon.

Sorry for the baseball rant just had to say it cause alba is from new york.

  14. I try to hide my Yankee fandom knowing that many here are Mariner fans and thus Yankee haters.

From the Red Sox perspective, losing Damon is one thing, losing him to the Yankees is quite another, which makes the signing that much sweeter!

I saw that Damon story and said to myself "I hope Tim Ruskell and Mike Renfeldt are paying attention".

I would hate to lose Shaun, but would hate MORE to lose him to a hated rival or someone in our division. I hope they don't let that happen.

  15. I heard  Trotter instead of Lofa... but "K Josh Brown, LB Lofa Tatupu, and C Robbie Tobeck are alternates and will make the trip if a selected player is injured or chooses not to play."

The Yankees are the reason the salary cap is good. I can't understand how they lose ever honestly.

  16. YES im so happy now!!!

Tobeck is another guy that deserved mention, though I didnt think he had a chance to even be an alternate

GREAT job by the coaches...Mack Daddy Gonna Make Ya JUMP JUMP

everything O Meezy said, i agreed 100%...Strong deserved it...im extremely happy right now, seriously...that guy really deserved it

  17. oh n Alba...as a Mariner fan for a long time...I have no problem if you like the Yankees...I hate the Red Sox more...

    ReplyDelete
  18. I am Yankee hater but i don't like the Red Sox either so i don't care that the Sox lost Damon to the Yankees.

Well considering we have the 4th richest man in America as owner of the Seahawks i wouldn't mind a capless NFL. I think Mr. Allen would put in alot to bring a superbowl to Seattle. He would be the Steinbrenner of football.

  19. The next time the Yankees and Red Sox played, I would be happy if the playing surface opened up and swallowd them both!

As for the Pro Bowl, I was pretty happy. Our defense hasn't been all that great and for Lofa to get mentioned as a Rookie is a pretty big deal. Plus, how can we bitch when about 2 thirds of our offense could be going? (if you count Brown as offense)

  20. if they decided to play Matt, Shaun, Mack, Hutch and WJ at the same time, Shaun may add a ProBowl MVP to his soon to be mantle full of awards, such as League MVP and Superbowl MVP. (knock, knock)

  21. if you wanna win...alba's suggestion is smart...the Seahawks know each other in and out, whch is tough when the opposing team doesnt...and that always works on our defense, too...where its overrun by Bears

I still think Rocky Bernard deserved to get somewhere, alternate at least...but no complaints

Mack is in, and I just watched the new King Kong, well the first hour of it

  22. I didn't bother reading the comments, I've been short on time to day.

All I really need to say here is Mack Strong? FUCK YEAH!

BTW Toebeck being an alternate is showing some respect for him as well. I don't worry about Tatupu, he'll get his.
