Hasselbeck's Comments on Who Should Replace Robinson
Since the link requires that you are a Hawk Mail member, I will post what I felt was the most interesting statement made by Matt. If you have Hawk mail, the entire article is worth reading, so click on the external link.
"Rapidly climbing the depth chart is Jerheme Urban, entering his third year with the Seahawks. The 6-3, 215-pounder has great speed, if not quickness, with sure hands, strength and general athleticism. A Division III star at Trinity in Texas with All-American recognition, Urban has caught six passes for 117 yards and a touchdown in two games, while essentially being a practice player filling out the roster for two seasons.
Nevertheless, his pure talent and extraordinary work ethic have not gone unnoticed. While many of the other young players got a kick out of legendary receiver Jerry Rice's presence on the roster last season and provided them with an anecdote to tell their children and grandchildren, Urban transformed into Rice's shadow.
"There were about seven or eight guys saying, 'Wow, playing with Jerry Rice is pretty cool,'" Hasselbeck said. "But they all missed a chance to learn. One guy (Urban) said, 'I'm going to annoy Jerry Rice with as many questions as I can think of. I'm going to follow him everywhere he goes, and learn everything I can by watching the way he handles everything.'
"That's Jerheme's work ethic. Every year, he's improved. From last year to now, he's improved more than any other player on the team, and I'm not just talking about wide receivers."

Well, I guess we all know who Matt would like to be throwing the ball to this season. What cool comments from Matt about Jerheme! I love hearing stuff like this!
ReplyDeleteWith that news and the article about Spencer taking the exact same tack, I'm thinking this is teh start of a great offensive season. Hopefully it will rub of on the players around them.
ReplyDeleteThere's a few of us that have been in love with Urban since the last preseason. It was distrubing to be that last week he was not on the depth chart. This is very welcome news!
ReplyDeleteMike Sando (yes, again...but right nows the most reliable guy)...attended their camp today
ReplyDeletehe said that the WR thats been most impressive by far has been Urban...he said he has the most sure hands and the teammates around him think highly of how hes been doing
on the flip side...he mentioned Jason Willis had a tough day, dropping at least 3 passes
Also shows what pre-season depth charts are worth.

The competition for Robinson's former starting spot (split end) will be fierce, and third-year receiver Jerheme Urban stated his case for it yesterday. He made a one-handed, over-the-shoulder grab and a fully-extended catch on a pair of deep passes.
ReplyDelete-
from the Seattle Times...i told you Sando said Urban has been most impressive...
.Net was having a pretty fine arguement over who Hass is referring to. I thought it was pretty obvious in the context that it is Urban. And that is why I rarely comment there, no offense to anyone from there.

There's no doubt it's Urban. As Bluefoot said, Urban has been highly reguarded by several of us over here, and I hope he finally gets a legitamate shot this year.

Ya those poor sapd at .net can be a bit slow at times, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI can see Urban becoming our very own Drew Bennett.
ReplyDeleteAnd -- how sweet that would be. A smart, hard working over-achiever that catches EVERYTHING thrown at him.
I love it.

Its good to see that someone is taking the incentive to step up. Right now the papers are stating that Bobby is interested in being a starter next to Darryl who is at the #1 spot. Bobby has been the 3rd since his arrival.
